  1. It also has more channels you can program vs the Midland.
  2. Anyone try this radio out yet? Retevis RA86 Looks like it may give some better options vs the Midland mxt275. Wideband and possible more channels. Looks interesting.
  3. I have the KG100G on my list also but I like the handset on the Midlands better. The idea of having everything hidden but the mic is appealing. Also I'd like to buy something that at least has some profits staying in the US.
  4. I bought and tried the melowave version. Failed in about a week. I'm looking for a 1/4 wave nmo mount now.
  5. Thanks for the replies. I'm leaning towards the 575 to help get through trees. Just wish for the price it had more channel storage options and listening for more frequencies.
  6. I'm pretty new to GMRS but I'm liking the flexibility and performance for emergency and remote communication. Right now I only have small handhelds but on my vehicle have added an NMO antenna mount for better reception. I'm trying to decide if it's worth going to a MXT575 or if a MXT275 would be good enough. The lower power and narrow band only are holding me back on the MXT275. Anyone have experience with either they'd like to share? Thanks
  7. Thanks for sharing I'm going to give your settings a try.
  8. Any idea of what brand radio you're having luck with? I'd like a cheap handheld scanner.
  9. Sounds good. I'll play around with the settings also when I have time, and report back how it works for me.
  10. As anyone adjusted the settings from 2 to 5? I've appreciated the spreadsheet and the settings have helped. Now I'm wondering about spreading out the lower settings because I get the feeling 4 Matt be too high and 3 is too low (after adjusting from the factory settings.
  11. Thank you for sharing this. I'm new to GMRS and looking to learn more about the system and how is working in the area.
