  1. I just realized while double-checking the menus for my reply that you may have "Dual Watch" check box marked when you go to "Radio Settings" in the menu. If that's the case, the radio won't scan. It uses the second band as the "scanning" channel and the primary band stays put.
  2. On mine, the top button on the side (just below the PTT button -- also the "up" channel button) to scanning. You hold it in for a couple seconds starts scanning the channel group. It shows "Scanning" on the screen where the second channel would be, if you were monitoring two channels. The other way I get it to scan is to go into the menu on the device (bottom left green "hockey stick" button), scroll down to "Radio Settings," scroll down to second option (Scan), and make sure the box is checked. Should see "Scanning" on home screen when you exit out of the menu. You can also do it through the app -- three bar menu button in app -> all the way at the bottom you'll see a "Scan" check box. Hope this helps!
  3. Sorry I'm a little late getting back to you. It should work, yes. Only thing making it "UV5G" is the file title. Otherwise, it's just a Chirp file
  4. I'm in NE Florida, but this list has some from Central Florida, too. Radioddity_UV-5G_20230122.img
  5. I wouldn't mind if it were the same cable as for all my other radios, but it's completely different cable that requires an adapter cable to program it. Same for all the accessories that I have for other BTECH/Baofeng radios -- have to use the adapter cable with GMRSPRO
  6. Bought one of these sometime in December. Really wanted to like it, but not very impressed, so far. Haven't done a lot of real-world testing, but I monitor a lot at home with this and the Boofwang UV-5G. I've found the Boofwang UV-5G gets much better reception (oftentimes, I get pretty clear chatter on the UV5G and absolutely nothing from the GMRSPRO -- squelch on UV5g is set to 5 and on the GMRSPRO at 1). Both using the included rubber ducky antenna. I do like the texting feature and one of my hunting buddies got one, as well (that's primarily my real-world application for GMRS -- hunting), but haven't had the chance to test it. Would getting a better attenna (like the Nagoya) help with this reception problem? I'm sure it would, but $150 radio ought to perform better than a $30 one, IMHO. I guess the price is based more on the bright, shiny features rather than radio capability. I agree with @WRQS631 that the cord should have been included. I've learned to use the app, so I'm not real inclined to spend the extra $20-30 for the cord, at this time.
  7. @MichaelLAX Apparently, that's what I'm saying and I didn't see that. None of the channel lists for GMRS that I found included the repeater channels. Dammit. Now I feel stupid. The "off-channel" was from a chart I found and that's what they called those frequencies, rather than repeaters (which would have clued me in).
  8. Having an issue with the GMRS PRO (other than it needs a better attenna). From what I can figure from monkeying with the radio and reading the manual, the only way to program new channels in the channel groups is through the app. Here's my dilemma: I'm trying to program a local repeater, when adding the Tx frequency, the app doesn't give you a "frequency" option. Only channels. This is fine for repeaters that use the 30 GMRS channels, but some of my local repeaters use "off-channel" Tx frequencies, i.e. 467.675 or 467.600. I haven't tried CHIRP, as I don't really want to spend the $30 on the conversion cord, right now. Has anyone found a workaround for this or is this just what you get with the GMRSPRO?
