  1. I am new to myGMRS, but I have found reading the "Posts" to ba educational. Although licensed a couple years, I recently regained my interest in GMRS and am learning more each day. Studying for the HAM Tech. License too. I have only used the Simplex operation and wish to learn how to use Repeaters for greater distances when needed. I dearly need to know where I can obtain complete information (Inp Freq, Output Freq, Offset Direction, PL Tone, etc) for local OPEN Repeaters!! Naturally I intend to use the proper procedures before attempting a certain Repeater's service.....BUT have searched extensively and cannot obtain this information. HELP Someone PLEASE.
  2. A very good question sir. I have had my GMRS license for about three years because I wanted to obey our laws if going to use GMRS at the permitted power limits. Have since installed a 45 watt unit in my vehicle with a good Browning mag mount with NMO connections. Also obtained several Handheld units. I have been operating in only Simplex mode. Now I desire to gain access and experience using LOCAL "Open" Repeaters. CANNOT FIND ANY LISTING showing their PL Tones(CTCSS or DCS). I know I may just end up trial and error using one additional radio to see if I "hear" my own voice being 'repeated' through the Repeater....but do not want to bother others using the repeater. Am also studying for my Tech License for HAM and will be able to use those frequencies/repeaters as well. I have gotten the good RT Systems software for setting up the radios efficiently for GMRS Repeaters and the Technician permitted HAM frequencies as well. Is there anyone/anywhere I can get/buy this info? I live just outside Alexandria, VA. Know there are a few in this area of Fairfax County, VA. such as Fairfax City, Sterling Park & Alexandria, VA. Any help to be appreciated. I just found my log in info to this site even though I started a year or so ago.....GREAT FIND...this is a down-to-earth group of people. I also like that a GMRS License is required to join in here as it supports responsible use of the GMRS frequencies by RESPONSIBLE people who follow the LAW and try to learn more through communicating with other like minded folks. I thank "My GMRS.com" for this opportunity to learn.
