  1. That isn't the problem - I can't get the radio to go into repeater mode at all.
  2. After obtaining my GMRS license earlier this year, I finally broke down and ordered the Midland MXT115 that just arrived yesterday. I put it in my vehicle this morning just to give it a checkout. There is a GMRS repeater within 2 miles of my residence and thought I'd try making a contact however I can't get the radio to go in to "Repeater" mode. The instructions in the manual are fairly straight forward and I've followed them step-by-step however I cannot get the desired sub "rP" to appear on the display, nor will it transmit in duplex mode on the repeater channels. Before I call Midland tech support can anyone suggest a hint or possibly a step that isn't in the instruction manual? Thanks, Art WQZD805
  3. Thank you for the replies. Just by coincidence, the May/June issue of National Communications, an on line publication, was just released this (Monday, May 1st) morning. Much to my surprise there were a couple of articles on GMRS including putting a GMRS repeater on the air and a review of the Midland MXT400 as well as mention of the possible coming rule changes for FRS, GMRS and CB.
  4. Greetings, I am a relative newcomer to the GMRS world although I've been a licensed amateur for over 25 years. I picked up a new scanner with a number of preprogrammed banks, one of them having FRS/GMRS/MURS all lumped into one bank. I started listening and became intrigued prompting me to apply for a GMRS license. I've been looking on line for available reference material however there doesn't seem to be much out there, unless I'm looking in the wrong place. I've seen a book titled "FRS/GMRS Radio" by Max Cooper, published in 2016 that appears to be a buyer's guide and "Two Way Radios & Scanners for Dummies" by H. Ward Silver that reportedly has some GMRS content but that book is now at least 12 years old. Does the on line publication "Spectrum Monitor" cover GMRS? Any recommendations?
  5. I realize that this topic has been dormant for some time however I just received my GMRS license and was curious as to how many licenses there are in the District of Columbia/Maryland/Virginia area as I reside in southern Maryland but am close to both DC and VA. Active licenses only: District of Columbia: 81 Maryland: 938 Virginia: 1673
