  1. Thank you so much for anwsering. I'm aware of the scanning feature on both radios. I was attempting to make them work on the lower channels. Niether radio was in scan mode. I am also aware of the fact that the Tera has no FRS frequencies. I removed all the privacy codes on the tera with the programming software. I turned the privacy codes off on the Midland as well. If I turn the radios on when on the same freq. I can transmit with the Tera to the Midland no problem. If I then turn the radios to a different freq. I can no longer transmit first with the Tera. I must transmit 1st with the Midland and then I can transmit fine with the Tera. Now when the radios have had the frequencies changed and I try to transmit with the Tera, the Midland does not show show RX on the screen. I can hear a hum from the Midland, but no sound and no RX is present. I guess this must be something simple, but for the life of me I can't get my head around the problem. Please, if you read the post, give me your ideas and I'll try them out in hopes of finding the solution. Thanks again for your help.
  2. I'm sorry. I should have mentioned earlier that I had turned off the codes on the base camp and had used the programming cable to turn off the codes on the tera. I tried moving units further apart. I didn't have it on the charger. Could I have messed up something with the program cable on the the tera? There was a features screen and a side button screen, also a a vox screen which, I didn't mess with. If someone is familiar with these radios and has some advice please post something. Thanks.
  3. Hello everyone, I have a new guy problem. I am using a Tera tr-505 to transmit to a Midland base camp xt511. I can't get the 505 to transmit until the base camp transmits first. When I transmit with the 505 there is a hum on the base camp and thats it. If I hit the push to talk on the base camp then my 505 can transmit to the base camp no problem. I odd thing, if I turn both radios off then on the 505 will transmit to the base camp, once I change channels no go. I must have touched a setting or something simple. If anyone can steer me in the right direction that would be great. Thanks.
