  1. I had one around year 2000 expired in 2005 I saw what they wanted to charge me I just started over.
  2. The “G” denotes GMRS cut antenna tuned for use in the GMRS frequencies.
  3. I have two of these KG-805G radios I am overall happy with them for where they land in the marketplace. My buddy also has one and the other day he could key the local repeater but his receiver would not open up we even turned the squelch down to zero. I have noticed my radio is very stingy on the receive side as well. It would definitely make me consider buying anymore. I have upgraded the antenna on mine and it helped a lot. Like I said overall I’m happy with mine just a little disappointed in the receiver side of the radio.
  4. Last year we Had a major fiber optic failure in our area. I had a GMRS license years ago but let it go in the midst of life and a divorce. So after the Fiber optic failure which took out all of my immediate families cell phones and internet and also my home phone it was time to have a backup. I will tell you I never knew how intertwined Verizon and Comcast are but they rent and share common Fiber optic spectrum. So earlier this June I started to get back on board I am Glad I did I have made a few contacts through facebook and do have some repeater access. But right now with a base unit in my home and a couple of walkie talkies and a mobile unit I will continue to add to my system and try to get some other family members on board.
  5. I just programmed my MXT400 today it is programmable to dual tones and you can put it to wide band the channels it skips you can add repeater channels and split tones/dcs as well.
