  1. For the time being we only support Stripe as a payment processor for credit and debit cards. PayPal is supported for making club payments and receiving payouts if you're a paid club owner, but that's because it's a separate system.

Since all payment details are handled by Stripe directly, we don't store your card information in our system. Stripe is the leading payment processor and powers many credit card payment platforms including Shopify stores, like our online shop. This is the most secure method to handle payments in a PCI-compliant way.

  2. Honestly, I'd be surprised if this got FCC approval. Actually, scratch that, the RT10 got FCC approval and I'm confident that is not legal for 900 MHz at 1W as license-free DMR. Pretty sure that squeaked by and so might this little gem.

Exactly, the only thing I’ve seen remotely like this using Lora for voice is an old project called Qmesh. Similar concept, with different execution. But retevis really hasn’t done any major announcements about these, so no one has really tested them which is surprising because it’s something unique.

Meshtastic also supports voice using Codec 2 on LoRa but only on 2.4 GHz radios due to the bandwidth constraints. That's what makes audio on UHF interesting.

  4. They are skipped during scan by default since there's no output tone. Any activity on the channel will cause the scan to stop and what you're hearing may or may not be that repeater anyway. This way, if you get the tone information, you already have the channel programmed, you can set up the tones and add to the scan list, and you're off to the races.

  5. I've been tinkering with these as well over the last month. Just driving around with the antenna inside the car I got 1.9 miles through dense suburban terrain. I've had a full conversation with someone about 1.5 miles away with the antenna inside the house near a window. It doesn't appear to be busy here in NJ, but I do see a couple nodes pop up here and there.

Thinking about attaching a node to a drone and getting it 400 ft up for about half an hour and see what I get. 🤓

I also set up an MQTT server for linking my mesh with my father who is about 25 miles north of me, and that works well also. You can't really use the public MQTT server because it will completely flood your mesh and probably lock up your devices from all the traffic, so be careful with that. If anyone is interested I can create a channel on the server to tinker around with.

Hello WRUU653 after checking your link I have more question than answers. lol. If I am reading this correctly.

Is this chart showing the last update was on 12/3/23 for the licenses.

    Applications 59.25 MB 12/9/2023

Is this showing the upcoming updates?

If Irecieved my callsign on 12/11/23 shouldn't it have shown up on the Tuesday 12/13/2023 update?

Not really sure what kind of information I am looking at on these charts.

Anyways I am hoping to get on soon as I am missing out on some great conversations on the MyGMRS Net Repeaters.

    Thanks for all the help.

When gaps occur in the FCC database files, you won't show up until the following Sunday's full database update. The FCC publishes a weekly full database file, and then during the week they publish the new and updated licenses incrementally (known as deltas). If their system doesn't generate a daily file and your callsign would have been in that day's file, you won't appear in the next daily file -- you'd show up in the next weekly full database file.

It's a pretty antiquated system, but it works most of the time. The biggest issue is waiting until the next day for us to learn about new licenses. The FCC created an API that allows live lookups, but it's painfully slow and practically unusable. It's easier to download the database updates and host the data in-house.

It would seem that a chirp compatible CSV export would be a straightforward feature to add to the GMRS webpage. The mygmrs website is well built, seems like there's only some personal beef that's preventing seemingly useful feature.

This feature already exists on the Reports page for Premium Members.

The reason for making this a premium feature is that 95% of this website is free to everyone, but our operating costs are a major factor in being able to continue to provide for the community.

The information is freely available but if you'd like the extra convenience of integration with other services then we charge a small fee which gives you additional perks like no ads, Classifieds access, and the ability to list a GMRS club.

I just got my license yesterday. How long does the database typically take to update so I can join this site?

Usually, the licenses appear 24 hours after the Grant Date on the license. However, since the FCC ULS website had been down for the last 2 weeks, I expect many people's licenses won't start to appear until Sunday or Monday when they publish the entire database each week. The daily updates they publish only show the new and updated licenses for the last day, and with such a large gap in coverage, we may not get them all in one update.

Downloaded the 1.3.0 version and installed it on my Android 6 network radio. It would not let me register. Went back to the Google Play Store but no "Join the Beta" option came up so no luck.

If you're posting here, you already have an account and you should log in instead.

  10. Big news in the myGMRS world: we have beta versions of a brand-new iOS and Android app ready for users to test!

    Android Users

On your Android device, go to the Google Play Store and search for myGMRS or click here. Install the current app version (1.3.0), which is the older version.

Once you've installed the app, you will see a Join the Beta section on the Google Play Store listing for myGMRS. Join the beta test by tapping Join and wait a few minutes. You will then see a new app update available that will install the 2.0.0 Beta version to your device.

    iOS Users

Use the following link to join the public TestFlight beta for myGMRS: https://testflight.apple.com/join/ZrWc4Dkm

We're eager for feedback on these apps, as we've been working diligently on creating a unified modern app experience that will allow us to add features more easily in the future. You can share your feedback in this thread.

I created a fork of the current version and reintegrated what Dan removed in January without modification.

I was able to get a list of repeaters in Texas (after upgrading to Premium, naturally) and it worked great.  I even did a test where I entered Lat/Long and it returned the list in order of distance from that geographic point.. that was very nice!

I run Linux on my machine so can simply run the code direct without any special build requirement.  But I will try to setup an automated regular build (for Windows and Mac, too) and should be able to setup automation to keep up with changes to the base Chirp app as well.  I did manage to rebase the code with two changes to Dan's code from today and tested again successfully.  So as drivers are added, bugs are fixed and features added the code should keep up with the latest while still providing the mygmrs functionality that was added back in.

I saw that Rich is planning to add a zip code-based location search to the API.  I might be able to add that at some point as well if you get that done, Rich.  Though, I am not quite as familiar with Python so will have to figure it out as I go.

You can access the forked repository on GitHub at https://www.github.com/bsefting/chirp.

Hopefully I'll have some Windows and Mac builds on there in the next couple of days.

I'll update when I have more,
    Brian

Awesome, Brian! I was going to do the same thing but didn't want to worry about keeping in sync with the upstream changes. If we have an automated process we can keep the fork up to date.

Great work! Looking forward to an update!
