That's exactly what I did, got my Technician License. Now I can take advantage of both worlds. There are some great GMRS repeaters that cover a lot of areas, but no networks that span the state (that I know of). Just takes money!

Like many of us, we are using our mobile radios as base stations. My question, is there a desktop mic (base mic) for the Wouxun KG1000G? My initial search says no, but I may be wrong, so I'm asking all you pros.

New guy here. Welp, I got a little excited when I read a little on the myGMRS National Net System, that is until I looked at the map. Looks like California is pretty much out of luck. I'm going to assume its that pesky little Sierra Nevada Mountain range that's causing an issue or just not enough participating repeaters?

Anyone know of those unlisted repeaters in the east bay area of northern California? (Tri-Valley area) I sure wish a GMRS repeater would show up on top of Mt. Diablo along side those HAMs.
