  1. Has anyone used this aftermarket antenna? I was considering it as an upgrade to the factory antenna on my 905G. If it has no significant improvements though I'll probably just stay with the factory antenna... thx -RR
  2. I bought a BE for my 905G as well... was planning on using it next week on a short road trip... however, this thread has me a bit concerned now as to whether or not I should even use it. Part of me wants to but the other part of me doesn't want to risk it ? -RR
  3. Michael, Thanks for the info... I'm quickly filling up all those memory channels with repeaters from locations I tend to drive near. I'm loving this 905G and am glad I went with such a nice HT rather than one of a lesser price/quality... thanks to all you guys who have helped out with all my questions. -RR
  4. TOM47- Took your advice and ordered the UT-72G yesterday rather than the 770G... much better choice, thx. -RR
  5. Michael- Good info to know... I have yet to set up a base station but when I do I will likely do the same as you... disconnect it when out of town and definitely when a thunderstorm moves in. -RR
  6. That's crazy... and was probably a bit scary as well!
  7. I want to add another repeater to my KG905G memory but I already have another repeater with the same frequency programmed. Am I able to add another repeater with the same frequency but with different tones? -RR
  8. AC- Good advice, I wasn't sure if a gmrs antenna would be as susceptible to lightening since the ones I've seen advertised and shrouded in PVC which I thought might help reduce the chances of a strike... I guess not. -RR
  9. Are gmrs antennas lightening magnets and if so I'm assuming they have to be grounded via a copper grounding rod??? Not that the Mojave desert gets much lightening but it sure did last week when that day long thunderstorm rolled in... made me ponder this question. -RR
  10. TOM- Yeah I think that's what I'll go with (KG-1000G and the 770G) when I am able to pull that financial trigger on the 1000G... in the meantime I'll just utilize my 905G as a HT and a mobile unit. -RR
  11. Wot- I actually did a little more research and think that when the time comes to upgrade my mobile power I'll just go with the Wouxun KG-1000G rather than purchase an amplifier for my HT... -RR
  12. WOT- Your the man, thank you!... also... I think it was you that mentioned an amplifier of some sort in another thread we connected on that would increase the output of a HT from 5w to 40-50w??? Thanks again... -RR
  13. Is it possible to connect a KG-905G to a Nagoya NL-770G mobile antenna using the provided coax that comes with the magnetic base mount (Nagoya RB-MJPL) rather than use the antenna that comes on the 905G? -RR
  14. And since March of this year it has gone up to 16,138
  15. Thanks guys... definitely answers my question and any others I might have had pertaining to this subject. My concern was whether or not I'd have to be upgrading to a digital system in the near future... and that doesn't appear to be the case ? -RR
  16. Would someone be willing to give a simple breakdown of analog vs digital signals and what is the current state of GMRS as it pertains to these two types of transmission? My limited research shows that most HT broadcast in analog... will GMRS be moving into a more digital platform? Thx -RR
  17. Delivery failure update ?... after speaking with my local post office this morning I was able to confirm that my original Wouxun purchase was indeed returned to sender to the confusion of both myself and the lady I spoke with. According to her I should have received a "notice to pick-up" my package from the local post office in my mailbox (my address was labeled correctly on the shipping notice she looked up). Instead there was a complete failure on the technological & human end of the USPS logistical process. She was very polite and took some additional info from me in an effort to prevent this from happening again (3rd time now). However at this point I have lost almost all hope in the success of any attempt to do so. I spoke with B2WR's, after speaking with the post office, to let them know they would be receiving a Wouxun 905G at some point later today from the USPS and to go ahead and ship out my 2nd order asap with the battery eliminator, through UPS this time though... sorry for the rant... just needed to vent ? -RR

  19. What antenna is that? Do you know if it's compatible with the 905G? -RR
  20. WJ- Thanks for the insight... I'll probably hold-off then on purchasing a speaker/mic and just use the 905G to talk directly on with the battery terminator while driving. I already have an itch to purchase the KG-1000G for my truck later on down the road once I become more gmrs savvy... -RR
  21. MJ- I did... plus I added the battery eliminator to use while on the road...
  22. MJ- I called B2WR but their closed Saturday and Sunday, so I just wrote an explanation in the notes section on my new order which explained everything in great detail. I'll probably still give them a call Monday just to confirm things with them. -RR
  23. Was all excited to receive my new Wuoxun KG-905G today (even received an email alert that it was out for delivery) when out of nowhere I received another email alert that it was being returned to sender because my shipping address was not valid (I live in a rural portion of the county). I had this problem before and thought I had resolved the issue by contacting the USPS...obviously not ?... I purchased this property a year ago and have had several Amazon packages delivered without issue but the USPS just can't seem to get it together... Anyone else ever had this issue??? I just went ahead and re-ordered another 905G radio plus the battery eliminator but paid extra for UPS delivery this time. Also, what corded PTT/mic would work with this radio? The only one from buytwowayradios.com that was compatible with the 905G was the most expensive waterproof one for $79.99 however, the K1 sub-model was out of stock... I couldn't find any other offered ones that stated they were compatible... Thanks. -RR
  24. MJ- Will do... I run Windows 10 on my laptop so hopefully there won't be any issues but if the Comm port issue arises I'll just follow the op's work-around... I'm still pretty new to all this but at least I've learned how to program my Baofeng with Chirp so I have a little experience with PC radio programming...
  25. Any update on this issue? My 905 should arrive Saturday and was just curious if the software issue had been resolved. -RR
