  1. i am having the same issue right now, just started doing it. did you have any luck finding problems? and repairing it.
  2. i put a midland radio on the same power supply and still had a little static but the signals coming in were good. some signals on the wouxan were showing but no audible signal was coming in.
  3. i bought the power supply when i did the radio and it was working, do they fail? sorry i am new at these. i was wondering if something chewed on my antenna co ax would that do it? swr is still at 1.2 with fifty feet of co ax. radio is putting out 35 watts still. i am putting a different radio on it to see if it does the same thing. THANK YOIU Frank wrpv210
  4. i have had a kg1000g for around two years now and all of a sudden, the sound on my local channels got staticky ? i have it set up as a base with a power supply and have it on my desk. i use it to monitor mostly and occasionally reach out on it for short periods. i normally keep the volume at arounds 4 to 6 and you could hear it crystal clear and very loud and now i have to turn it up to 20 or so and it is very staticky, is there a sound card or circuit that is not working properly? i am wondering if it is a setting does it need service? i checked squelch and obvious things but need advice. i was wondering if anyone else had same problems and how did you resolve it? thanks in advance wrpv210 frank
  5. i have the same problem on a midland mxt275. to use it you would not see any reason to think it is not transmitting. when noone answers you it makes you wonder. so i put a meter to it and it is not putting out anything. it won't even register the frequency. the tx bars are pegged and it receives very well. my radio worked out the box and on the meter i had a 1.2 swr. it would get out ten miles crystal clear. after set up i used it maybe three times before i realized it wasn't transmitting at all. i am waiting to hear back from Midland, not the easiest to get in touch with.
  6. i recently purchased a midland mxt275 so i could use it as a portable radio for traveling in rental cars or with friends etc. i have a mag mount antenna nmo and tuned it to a 1.2 swr. it worked awesome for a 15 watt radio. today i went to use it and it could not get past my driveway, about 200ft. any suggestions? what could have caused this? the hand mike says it is transmitting but the sure com meter says it is not putting out anything. is there a reset ? on these? i used it maybe three times to transmit in ten weeks. it only has a ninety day warranty . and midland is hard to get in touch with so far. thanks in advance. wrvp210 frankinshine
  7. Is the radio wired directly to the battery? or through the accessories on the ignition? i would try isolating the power from the electric on the JEEP.?
  8. Thank you so much i feel better now. frank
  9. i am new to GMRS and radios like this so i am struggling with "am i doing this right?" started with radio,WOUXAN KG1000G, and only antenna i could get with it at the time was a tram 1173 450-470mgz? i thought it was in the range for gmrs until i put it on the swr meter. over 4. this antenna has two sections so i tried tuning it by cutting it. wasn't sure if to cut top and bottom but i did because cutting the bottom helped simplex but not a repeater channel. i cut the top and the repeater channel swr improved. now they are not the same length should they be? i got down to 1.39 and every time i cut it got better so the last cut went the wrong way, now its 1.59 swr. on all channels. the power peaked out at 35 watts and also went down to 31.9 watts on surecom 102 meter. how much power should i get out of it? is this safe or can i get antenna rods to replace lower section? OR is the wrong antenna?????? thanks in advance because i not too sure how to use this website either? WRPV210 Frank

  12. I am very new to GMRS and i just bought a kg1000g. i used to be a CB'er when i was younger. i have 'nt had any radio in quite a few years until i got interested in GMRS. when i bought the radio it scanned all thirty channels, the last eight were listed as repeaters. i dn't know what i did but now it only scans 22 channels. is there a setting for scanning repeaters? i went through the whole book and couldn't figure out what i changed? any suggestions? thanks frankinshine
