  1. Hello I am about to buy a comet ca-712efc antenna and install it about forty up in a tree.It will be used as a base station until I get a Repeater up this summer. I have a number of questions 1) what should I use as cable? About a 75 foot run 2) lightning arrester ? Going to put this in a plastic box on outside of house. ( like cable and phone company does) to protect there splitters. 3) How do I ground the antenna ? 4) I want a 50 watt Repeater. What do you recommend? Hopefully after all is installed I'll get 40 Watts out the antenna! Recommendatioñ please Thank you Wqww770
  2. Budget $ 1,500.00. Any info you can give. Thanks Wqww770
  3. I would like to install a repeater . Ideally on my local amateur radio club's tower which is about 2 miles away 1400' in elevation. I sent them an email no response. So I guess I am going to go with a home-based repeater about 30 to 40 feet off the ground in a tree. If it's going to be a home-based repeater more than likely it will be a private repeater for me and my family . Just got my Gmrs ticket Wqww770 about two weeks ago . Need all the information you can give. what to buy? How to install ect. Also do I have to notify the FCC about installing a repeater . Thank you Wqww770 Anthony D
  4. Hilly all around. 1500 foot mountain about 1\2 mile to my west would love to put a repeater up there. MT Beacon Amateur radio club is up there. Getting back to antenna it would be half-duplex I can get it about 30ish feet up a tree next to house or 60 ish feet up a tree In my Field but for that I would need about 200' of direct burial cable. It would be used for a Gmrs and Amateur base station. Still need to find a base radio that will do 2m and 440 at 40-60 watt and that can turn down to 5 watt for Gmrs. Budget for Radio and antenna no more then $ 1,000.00 Thanks Wqww770 Kc2ubq
