  1. Yes, good point WRYV757. That's a useful way to set the scanned channels. This thread is referring to the idea of scanning non-GMRS frequencies with this radio. Unfortunately it's been learned that this is not possible.
  2. As discussed in this post over at RadioReference.com, it appears the 136.0-174.0 range is included in the specs to allow it to pick up NOAA channels in the 162.xx range. We're strictly GMRS/NOAA for this HT.
  3. I think this was user error. When I programmed it, I didn't overwrite the existing NOAA01-NOAA07 entries at the end of the channel list. The skip was working for the user-defined WX channels. I didn't realize the duplicate entries.
  4. There's even a reviewer on Amazon that states: I just realized it's a paid-for VINE review, so there goes that credibility...
  5. Well, the way I programmed it, they are lumped in with the remaining channels. There's no "on/off" for them. Looking at the manual I see there's a special method to add NOAA channels via the radio itself: Since I programmed it via CHIRP I'm guessing I'll need to delete the NOAA channels I've created, manually add them via the above menu item, and they'll be automatically skipped. Looking at the first image/CSV I grabbed before making my changes, I don't notice any fields that contain a hint that they need to be skipped, other than the naming convention: NOAA01 NOAA02 NOAA03 NOAA04 NOAA05 NOAA06 NOAA07 I wonder if simply ensuring the names are exactly as above will automatically omit them from scanning. I'll report back with my findings.
  6. I've tried programming it via CHIRP to add the "S" to the Skip column, and also toggling Scan to "no" in the menu, but it always reverts to "yes". Other than not programming in weather channels at all, is there any way to prevent this radio from stopping each time it hits a WX station? Thank you!
  7. I noticed someone in another forum asking this question and it piqued my curiosity as I own a pair of these. I searched the manual and the menu and haven't found anything to enable scanning of non-FRS/GMRS channels. Anyone know if this comes with a firmware update or something? From Radioddity: The only scanning I can figure out is FRS/GMRS channels... Thanks for any insight!
  8. Are you using a current version of CHIRP? I'm running CHIRP daily-20220604 and when I select a Tone Mode of "Tone", the Cross Mode column blanks out. While the above will likely work, @MichaelLAX's advice was to remove the ToneSQL code altogether since on rare occasions a repeater may have a different or no tone on the output side.
