WOW- thanks everyone for such prompt replies. You all answered my question. with that, Im assuming tha the MOBILE version of GMRS radio that i could purchase to install in my car SHOULD have that capability?? What I'm really needing is a means of two-way communication while commuting from home to work (about 60miles) and be able to reach out to others on the road (info about traffice, weather,etc) as well as to home provided I have a 'base' unit .. Thanks again. I look forward to learning much in the GMRS world !!

Im total newbie to this. Wanting to know if the basic handheld units ( I have the Midland LXT600) can be used with the repeater towers out there to help with extending range of use. I know nothing about all this. just signed up today (I do have my GMRS license) . I would greatly appreciate ANY information that will get me started in the right direction. Regards Danman
