  1. Phonetics are not "a ham thing" they are used in the military, public safety and yes, ham radio. They're used on the telephone for Christ sake. So here's the "rules" for using them, if your trying to convey a string of letters and numbers to another human, and the recipient keeps getting it wrong, use phonetics. Or don't, no one gives a shit.
  2. It's all good. We put up Macomb 675 and Detroit 625. Holly is coming as soon as the weather breaks and I'm working on Pontiac. All Motorola Quantars. You can keep an eye on our progress here http://mi8.systems
  3. No. Curious, do you listen for valid users outside of your simplex range (the point of a repeater after all) before making a call on a repeater? How would we "solve" this seeing as repeaters do not monitor their output frequency? Not use repeaters at all? Perhaps we shouldn't have designated repeater pairs at all to ensure this doesn't ever happen...
  4. I think you asked about what repeaters in Metro Detroit I was referring to. Did you listen to what she said and look at my username by any chance?
  5. Well I'm not "arguing" about anything "again" as I am new to GMRS. However, I am in the process of putting up multiple high profile, linked, GMRS repeaters in the Metro Detroit area and wanted to know. The answers provided here, before I resurrected the thread, seemed flat out wrong and provided by someone who should know better...
  6. Maybe this can help people understand: If a GMRS repeater has more than one licensee operating on it, the repeater MUST identify. Reason: If there are 2 or more valid licensees operating on a repeater, the FCC needs to know who is responsible for the repeater.
  7. Forgive me for bringing up this old thread, but how are you reaching this conclusion? 95.1751 C seems crystal clear on the matter and indicates repeater MUST id unless used EXCLUSIVELY for the owner's license AND those people id correctly...
  8. Disregard, I was able to toggle closed then open and now the access button is disabled... Hello, I own the Macomb 675 repeater in Michigan. I have set it up on .675 with a pl of 141.3 and DO NOT require permission. I still get request almost daily for permission with I feel compelled to approve. I have it set to "open" FWIW... Is there a way to eliminate the "REQUEST ACCESS" button, or even better, have a pop up with a canned message? I've been replying with: We do not require permission. The Macomb 675 is an open repeater and you are free to use it within the parameters of your GMRS license. Welcome.
