ALERT ! Tuesday, February 12, 2019 - 04:30 AM CST: Winter Weather Caution - For our forum friends in Iowa, northern Illinois, northern Indiana, Wisconsin and Michigan.
National Weather Service is predicting snowfall totals of up to 16 inches of new snow in places on top of the snow received over the past weekend. Drifting will be possible as winds from the north and northwest kick in as this snow event progresses. This will make travel nearly impossible and most Public Safety agencies and Emergency Management offices are requesting that drivers stay off of the roads today. Almost all schools in the region and many businesses and financial institutions are closed today.
Before this Tuesday event started, there was already about 11 inches of snow on the ground in some areas - and on roofs.
