WRUF413
So ordered my Retevis RT97s repeater today. Hoping it shows up fairly soon. But excited to finally get one up and going. As time goes on, I will be upgrading the cable and antenna as time goes on. WRTZ750

WRUF413
Update: Repeater and all components will all be in by Wednesday or so this week. Weather willing, will hopefully have the repeater up and ready for testing by next weekend.
WRVD377
Sound like a good start soon and the second repeater in our area. Still better than the replies (not) from the two ham groups in the area. Looks like it just going to be a few of us attempting to put up a coverage area as best we can. Great news! WRUF413

I had asked the Davenport ham group a while ago and they didn't seem interested. Did you try as well? I was told the Ham repeaters hardly get any use as well if I recall correctly. WRVD377
I emailed the HAM websites contacts, and no one would reply. So, for now, I'll take that as no one wants anything to do with GMRS people. I sure would have thought if a club would take a bunch of us as members it would help them keep the club growing with new people that may want to learn more. But apparently not. So I think it is up to a hand full of us to build our own in the area. WRTZ750
Sshannon
Go to the fcc license search page and generate lists of people with GMRS licenses and cross those against the ham licenses. There will be some overlap, not huge, but some. Those are the ones I would approach. wayoverthere, WRUU653 and WRTZ750

I just posted to their FB page again. It'd be exciting and might open new doors for people if we can share a repeater location.
WRUF413
Davenport West Repeater is up and running. I am planning on waiting a few weeks to list it on mygmrs. Want to make sure I get all the kinks worked out. With installing the antenna today, I discovered some improvements I am going to be doing over the next couple weeks. Really want those done before I post to the general public. WRVD377 and WRTZ750
WRVD377
Hi Sshannon, I have thought about that, but as you see many of those people have already came here looking for us and adopting some gmrs themselves. I was specifically attempting to get replies from established clubs rather than all of us being forced to create new, without the advantages of what clubs already have (Towers, costs, insurance, installation, coverage, Asterisk/app_rpt knowledge, and restrictions (rules). What was not said here is that I offered to help pay a fair amount of the cost this fall / winter (2023), even a server to either club that would reply. if that would help change their minds. So I am currently in the mind set from talking to around 6 people around our area that the clubs don't care about GMRS and DMR, thus we have to mini scale our start. Like myself with zero background in radio (except my microwave telecoms installation background "Windstar"). However, thanks for the idea, Royce WRUF413
WRUF413
Update: 2/19/23 I raised the antenna another 2 ft. So now the top os at 49.5 ft. Also got my lighting cable installed as well. Next step is to get the network pieces to connect to Molines repeater and get a node from MYGMRS. WRVD377
