QC repeater

hello all,

I have recently setup a few gmrs repeaters, more local to the Peoria area.   However, I with the Peoria 600 repeater, it is currently connected to the midwest gmrs network.   I have a repeater located in Germantown Hills, 650, and Manito 700, which are currently stand alone units, with ranges exceeding 50 miles.

additionally, we are looking at adding an additional repeater to the QC area.   I currently have a motorola quantar uhf, sinclair 3220 duplexer, along with cradelpoint network, RTCM link module, WATTbox, and a DB420 antenna.   I have enough 7/8 hardline to run approximately 300 ft.

With that said we are in the process of looking for towers, or locations.   I currently have a few leads with a few tower owners in the area.   I am seeing more and more interest in GMRS over in the QC area.

please feel free to reach out if you have any possible locations, that would suit this application and help bring a good footprint GMRS repeater to the area.

Hello Mike,

So how would that work in this area?

Would people need to be part of a club to use it?  As I know from one of the others talking around here that tower sites are expensive. And it looks like your maybe part of the closed midwest grms club.

You looking for IL side, or IA side? Iowa side has more population and generally better elevation with exceptions.

I know from Google maps and driving around where a few towers are. Don't know owners except the two I looked up, only one of those is in the, may work for you.

If the other people talking about putting together a series of nodes to cover the area would agree, I personally prefer the bigger, better coverage Idea.   And would stand down my 700 range for your offer to help the area. That would keep you well off the West Davenport frequency range and I could leave mine for what I was doing.  As you likely know I have a node, just did not finish linking it yet.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us and noticing that we are attempting to light this area up.

Feel free to contact me.

I am mixed about this. I just put my repeater up in Davenport and am already looking at upgrading. So my concern is, will the repeater you put up over take others? Or, will you work with the current repeater owners to make it a nice big net?

Hello Mike,

I have sent an email bcc to a few people whom have talked with me about covering the area or even talked about getting the GRMS license.  Please expect a wide range of questions. As I would expect.

Hello Mike,

Glad to see you are close to being up and running with a linked node and much wider coverage!

Thank you,
