yes, I was having other internet problems and a local thunder storm at the time and thought it was on my end. also it was an odd error report. reminds me of another web site that forgot to pay their DNS routing bill.

ROFL, you caught on that it was a DNS issue as well huh? I ran several network tests yesterday and found the secondary DNS for the site was down. When I ran ICMP requests to the domain I was getting 60% loss with 40% TTL exceeded indicating the DNS was failing.

Unfortunately, I had no way of getting in contact with anyone to let them know. I was aware of the cause of the issue around 8:30AM CDT yesterday. Not that it would have helped but at least the cause of the problem would have been known.

I am pretty much new here, but I do not seem to see a way to go back to the mygmrs home page once I selected the Forums.  It would be nice to be able to go back to the home page from the Forums.  Right now, unless I am missing something, I need to re-enter the web address and go to the home page that way.  A button that would bring us back tot he home page might be nice.

I am new and not complaining, just an observation as I try to use the site and learn about GMRS and this site.

Thanks

Dan

Dan - Thanks for the feedback.  Rich is aware of the fact that the forum needs a little fine tuning, yet, and he does that when he can... however, as I understand it, he is working over 60 hours a week and things like this may take some time.

For the time being, please bookmark the main site in your bookmarks or favorites file and hit that in your browser if you have to go back or simply open another tab and be in both places at once.

I have two separate bookmarks on my tool bar. you could also just bookmark the main site and enter the forum, and click the bookmark again to go back. either way, it's and easy work around for a non mission critical bug. best of luck. I think you will also find as the new wares off you will go back and forth less.

Dan - ;)

We enjoyed your role as LT. DAN in the movie "Forrest Gump"... we see that you have been promoted since then to CaptDan... :D

P/S - Gary Sinise, who actually played Lt. Dan in the 1994 movie as well as having a major role in 'CSI New York', is  a fine bass guitar player and tours with "The Lt. Dan Band".   He and I share a commonality - we both play bass guitar and we both have owned Fender and Cort basses.

Now, if there was just some way to attach a mobile GMRS antenna to a Fender Jazz Bass, I'd have it made.

Ha ..at the time the movie came out I was actually a Lieutenant - the "Lieutenant Dannnnnn" never ended - in person - over the PA system - and the City Wide Communications center had their fun also - instead of being formal ( I am/was and easy going kinda guy) and asking for or calling on the radio for me properly - everyone would get a kick out of hearing "Lieutenant Dannnn" on the air.

So when I joined a Harley Motorcycle Club i was a captain - they nick named me Captain Dan and it has stuck.

Once again - thanks for all the help

Capt Dan
