Grab a scanner and spend some time listening. It's usually either not used at all, or overrun with wireless driveway alarms. It never seems to be in between.

I do some monitoring by me. It's basically dead, and I have a Wallmart maybe about 1.5 miles away.

Any time I do listen at Walmart, you can't hear them once you leave the parking lot.

I hear moderate amount  traffic on MURS. I am unable to tell if it is Walmart, but there is one nearby where I hear the traffic along with other retailers. The traffic definitely sounds like it is retail related.

A side question here. Has there been any further action to authorize a MURS like service in Canada? I know around 2014 there was talk about it but due to a lack of interest and a number of users still on the frequencies the idea was dropped.

Not quite MURS, but Canada has VHF LADD mainly for logging truckers. 35 channels, same frequency range.

Here is some additional info on those VHF LADD frequencies I have book marked. There is a specific protocol, and the roads they are used on, when traveling on the "radio resource controlled roads" in some of the provinces.

If you scroll down you'll see a list of frequencies. The very first one has the name "LGRANT1". The frequency listed is "143.4150" MHz which of course is just below the Ham 2M band. Humm...

COSTCO in Avondale, AZ uses it but I've never tuned in to see if I could hear anything.  I plan on using Blue Dot or Green Dot when I'm Out and About to keep in touch with friends who have radios since they'll probably be less traffic on it then on GMRS.

I did a scan while I was in WalMart and it showed up as 154.57125.  I've programmed it in and everytime we go grocery shopping I have it on.  I hear the overhead announcements, manager to employee, the auto button announcement to unlock different items and of course the carriage collector.

The wife and I have a blast with it.

The Walmart in my area doesn't use MURS, but I do hear some road construction crews using it from time to time.

It's usually the "flaggers" that tell you to stop or go when working on a 2 lane road. I hear them chatting back and forth.
