  1. What's new in this club
  2. Hello Members, My Ham Friend in Michigan tells me that this weekend is Winter Field Day in the Ham Radio world. Since many you have your Ham ticket, you may be planning on participating. I think we should have a GMRS Winter Field day Saturday (1/25) so I am will be scanning the following repeaters which I can work from my base station in Columbia: Thompson Station Brentwood Franklin 550 Franklin 700 Bending Chesnut Grasslands between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM (sorry I can't do the 48 hours the Hams will be doing). Please take some time to check-in with me during this window. If you can work other repeaters in the Middle Tennessee area, please monitor them and attempt to contact your fellow South Central Tennessee members (or any others) on those repeaters. If I don't respond to your first (can I say it? CQ) try again as I may be working a contact on another repeater. Hope to make contact with many of you tomorrow, WSBM 443 Steve
  3. WSGL241 live close to exit 22 on 65. New to Gmrs but been around commercial radios my hole life. Trying to show my boys the inter working of radios so I got licensed and got 3 tidradio td-h3 portables and found a box of old mobiles with about 10 years of dust on them got 3 up and running in our trucks. Going to try to get 2 set up for a repeater later on if I can dig up some more parts and pieces.
  4. BLEEEP BLOOOP SQUAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWK. New... Call Sign - WSGK926 - North side of Murfreesboro, almost to Smyrna. New property in North Alabama just over the state line(1/2 mile) so doing runs up and down the entire region pretty much every week. Currently using the Murfreesboro and Smyrna Repeaters, will be using the southernmost repeaters on the drives down when I hit the Natchez Trace Parkway and farting around the property down there. HOWDY... SQUAAAAAAAAAAAAAWK over.

  6. Jeffery, Thanks for hosting the Gallatin 650 check-in. I started out with a longer list of repeaters but cut it back when the schedule was getting too long. If this works out and we do it again on another holiday, we can change up the list. Steve WSBM 443
  7. WSDV406 here. Jeffrey, in Hermitage. I am VERY likely able to host the Gallatin 650 check-in. Do you want to add the Lebanon repeater at 462.675 and nashville (love circle) repeater at 462.575 to the list? I might could host those too. Those repeaters aren't super active, but they have a wide footprint like the brentwood and gallatin repeaters.
  8. Calling all South Central Tennessee GMRS Club members! We're excited to announce a special New Year's Eve check-in as our first club activity of the year. This is a great opportunity to connect with fellow members and test out your radios on different repeaters. Here's the rundown: Date: December 31st, 2024 Goal: Hear from as many members as possible on each of our area repeaters. Schedule: We'll be following a specific schedule to ensure everyone has a chance to check in on multiple repeaters. Here's the breakdown: Time Repeater Host Callsign 8:00 PM - 8:10 PM 94 Thompson's Station 625 WSBM 443 8:15 PM - 8:25 PM 94 Brentwood 600 WSBM 443 8:30 PM - 8:40 PM Gallatin 650 Volunteer Needed 8:45 PM - 8:55 PM 94 Grassland 650 WSBM 443 9:00 PM - 9:10 PM Murfreesboro 725 Volunteer Needed 9:15 PM - 9:25 PM 94 Fairview 700 Volunteer Needed Check-In Process: At the designated time for your chosen repeater, the host will announce the start of the check-in. To check in, simply broadcast: "This is [Your Callsign] checking in from [your Location] wishing everyone a Happy New Year." The host will acknowledge your callsign and provide a signal report. After each acknowledgement, the next person can proceed with their check-in. Once everyone has checked in, the host will clear the channel for regular traffic. Volunteering as a Host: If you're willing to volunteer as a host on a repeater that needs one, simply identify yourself as the host at the designated time and begin the check-in process. Let's Make it a Great Night! We hope to hear from as many of you as possible on New Year's Eve! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us through the club messaging system on myGMRS.com or post on our club forum. Happy New Year from the South Central Tennessee GMRS Club! WSBM 443 Steve
  9. Hi all, I'm Brian WSGD840 I live just outside of Huntsville Alabama but travel up 65 to Franklin multiple times per week. I'm new to the GMRS community and just trying to get involved. Thanks!
  10. Hello All, We now have 22 members who have joined the South Central Tennessee GMRS club since its inception on October 26 of this year. I started the club when several contacts commented that a club would be nice so I volunteered to set up the club on myGMRS.com, however, I only wish to be involved with moderating the site. I am sure there are already members here that have much more experience with clubs of this type that can provide valuable input towards what types of activities other members would find interesting and helpful. Also, I encourage you to post (if you have not done so already) on the New Member Info page some information about yourself, interests, repeaters you monitor, etc. so we can start connecting names to the callsigns. Again, thanks for joining and promoting the club to other GMRS users, Steve WSBM 443
  11. Tyler, This sound great, lets through a time out there and I will send out a message to all the members and we can give it a try. Thanks, Steve
  12. Hey All! WRYL951, Tyler, here! What does everyone think about an improptu GMRS "net" for the Hollidays? Seeing as were currently 20 members strong so far, Why not reach out and share some radio joy as we move through the final month of 2024? Glad to be here, and Happy Hollidays to all whatever your Tradition may be! Maybe give a quick reply and let everyone know what repeaters youre able to hit the best, and maybe some others that you can touch but arent the best. Maybe we can find one we can all touch, that would be amazing!
  13. MtPleasant here. Mostly monitor Thompson Station Brentwood. I am also KQ4QQO and monitor Columbia repeater. I would like to see a complete list of local repeaters with name and frequency and tones if there are any new ones other than mygrms and repeaterbook and agree need more repeaters around here.
  14. Adam Sanders, I live in Murfreesboro/Walter Hill (north Rutherford County), I have been permitted to use the RUTHERFORD 600 repeater and am still awaiting approval on a couple more repeaters in the middle Tennessee area. I have a set of Baofeng UV-9G turned on from time to time. I grew-up in Lewisburg, spent a LOT of time in and between Columbia and Lawrenceburg in my teen years. I am hoping to learn a lot from groups like this as I am new to the world of GMRS.
  15. WSFB954 Donald Chilton (Lenny) I live in Murfreesboro Tennessee. Been a radio nerd for quite awhile! And I’m able to hit the Brentwood repeater!
  16. WRTI650 Doug Robertson here. I live in Franklin, just north of downtown and work at a church just south of downtown Franklin. Pretty new to the radio world but somehow became the subject expert to friends that know nothing and are getting GMRS radios. I'm hitting several repeaters in the area, some different from work and my home. Looking to join this friendly group and learn! Blessings!
  17. Hey yall. Jeffrey Davis here. WSDV406. I'm in Hermitage. I'm only on HT for now -- either a Baofeng UV-5R or a Tid H3 -- and I monitor all of the local repeaters that I can hit, but I'm on the Brentwood and Nashville (Love Circle) and Lebanon 675 repeaters most often. I talked to someone transmitting on the Brentwood repeater from Columbia and I was transmitting from central Mount Juliet. They told me about this group and I'm glad to make yall's acquaintance. I'm pretty new to radio, so I'm always glad to chat and accept any help and advice anyone wishes to share.
  18. Yea we definitely need. New repeater in Columbia!
  19. This is david Wace405 from columbia that you have been talking to. I think I figured it out
  20. WSCY890 William I am located in South Nashville. We monitor all repeaters in our area as far north as Gallatin and south to Spring Hill. Look forward to part of a growing GMRS community
  21. Welcome to the Club. Steve WSBM443
  22. Good afternoon! WSFD645 - Michael, in Bellevue. Thanks for starting this @SteveGibbs, post your venmo and we can chip in to get the annual fee together. I can reach the main Nashville repeater and have heard chatter the 94 Fairview repeater in the past. I should be able to hit the 94 brentwood and 94 grassland repeaters but I'm not sure anyone uses those. @WRZC825 Reach out to the person who runs the repeaters labeled "94" around brentwood, franklin, and fairview. They're all in Williamson Co so there may be some official county level coordination going on there.
  23. Good Morning. WRZC825 - Jon. I think I have heard all of you on the Thompson Station repeater at some point. I don't talk much, just monitor during my AM/PM commute from Spring Hill to Brentwood and at my desk when I am working from home. I monitor Thomson Station and Grasslands mostly (awesome range on this one...I can get from Percy Priest Lake to my home in Spring Hill). Used to monitor Brentwood, but it has been hit or miss on that one, so I don't really try anymore. Definitely need a good repeater in Columbia (maybe move the one that is frequently off line in Brentwood since the Grasslands covers that area anyway...just my $.02)
  24. I going to post about this start up club, on my face book page.
