Several years ago, there was a company marketing products similar to your "nerfed" talkie, but they used Neophrene which is material some diving suits are made from. They had cases designed for a whole boat load of talkies, from consumer grade to commercial grade. I wished I could remember the name of their company !

Much like what you did there.

Sounds like a product I could use. My HT's are IP66 which is good for spash or a bit of rain, but worthless if I drop one in the lake.

After much searching, Mr. Google failed me.  However, I did find some products fit for a similar purpose from Aquapac. Their solution would certainly keep a radio dry, but could make knobs and buttons hard to operate. Also, if the Aquapac bag captured enough air with the radio I guess they would float.

If you do run across the the neophrene cases let me know.

Thanks!
