  1. How do I test the power output if the “mic” is only for programming? Plugged into the duplexer port hit PTT and I get nothing. The same process on my Midland MXT500 shows me pretty close to 50W. Was hoping to confirm the same with this. I heard Randy say he tested his, so maybe there’s a menu option I missed? I did upgrade the firmware.
  2. Rather than start a new thread I thought I’d jump in here with a similar question. I plan on running my coax down the antenna mast then attaching a bronze ground clamp to the mast about 4 feet off the ground where I’ll run 10 AWG wire to the utility co’s ground rod. My coax will continue down the mast and make its way to my new $1,500 repeater. But I’ll install a lightning arrestor between the coax and the repeater. Just a little apprehensive that my coax will be zip tied to the mast that will hopefully divert the electric charge down the wire to the rod and not continue down the coax. And even if it does it will be greeted with the arrestor. Am I pretty safe with this setup?
  3. That's good news for me. I bought that antenna and it will be about 25' above terrain outside with mast up against the side of my garage (Southwest Florida). Mine will be connected to a mobile repeater, though. Hoping my kids will be able to connect. 2 households - less than 10 miles in different directions.
