  1. for like the last month, we have had some folk "bleeding over" into our repeater. The kicker that I have yet to be able to grasp is the fact that our repeater is in St louis, and they are in Indiana! I have done an ID on their call signs, and that panned out, and their rag chew also puts them in Indiana. I even got their trans PLtone, and tried to hit them back but no luck. Ive heard this is called "skip" but every day???
  2. The WHOLE thing just smells fishy! 1). NO legal letterhead….. 2) requesting ( nicely) for ALL the users… 3) NO return address?? to me, it looks more like some sort of a local dispute…. Just my .02
  3. ive seen several with a loop at the bottom...
  4. I am just a couple days away from putting up a base antenna. Its going to be 34ft off the ground, on a flagpole... Flagpole has a grounding clamp, AND No.8ga wire going to a grounding rod. The coax is LMR400, and it will have a lightning arrestor coupler in line with a 8Ga. lead on it going to the grounding rod. The question is, do I need to place the loop in the cable at the Antenna? I was under the assumption that is a drip loop? the connector is shielded in a collar/ base mount for the antenna. The radio will be attempting to squirt somewhere between 38-44 watts....
  5. thought i would come back and give an update.... I ended up sending the radio back to BTWR, because i was convinced that the radio HAD a failure. Sure enough, they tested it and found fault in the faceplate. they warranted to unit, and the new one came two days ago. YES, I have a plethora of different length data cables, all shielded, that work PERFECT! The permanent install starts tomorrow... Although, it appears that CHIRP has NO solid program for this radio, and im having some difficulty with the WOUXUN data cable....
  6. This gives me a better understanding now. I'm not doing much in VFO as of yet, so this wont have any bearing then.... BUT ill leave it at 12.5 for now. Thanks all.
  7. So, it makes NO difference of any value thats placed in it? This column just came up in the lastest build. interesting fact though, those values coinside with either narrow band or wide band..... 5 or 12.5....
  8. I dont remember this column a couple of months ago?? 5.0, 12.5, 25??? is this the same as wide and narrow band on radio??
  9. So, no other option other than using the supplied 10’ and coiling it up?
  10. Nine times….. all of them FAILED to work. The best I have ever got was a power up, but stuck on sync data. Even tried pass thru RJ45, and still failed. YES, I swapped pi’s 5 and 7 on ONE connector… I have done dozens of RJ45 connectors for video cameras for alarms and have had zero problems making lines for these… the original patch cord was defective, and I just thought I would try to make one… tool operator error? Blind old guy?? Anybody have any luck making one??
