I have the the same radios and the repeater channels will not hold/store the tones. I have not used chirp yet so I am referring to adding tones to the pre-existing repeater channels.
The temporary work around is to program the channel / tones manually.
Go to YouTube channel NotaRubicon and look for the video entitled
"EASY! Baofeng set up to use a repeater ham or GMRS". Follow these steps exactly and you'll be good to go.
Do not worry about the tone being DPL as is the case with the Mt. Lemmon repeater. This just means it's a DCS tone (Baofeng's version of DPL as opposed to CTCSS which is Baofeng's version of PL tone.
Is this ideal? No
Does this defeat the purpose of GMRS simplicity? Yes as WRVQ719 pointed out previously.
Is a firmware fix out already or coming soon? Likely
