It took me a bit but I found the cause of the static issue at my in-laws place, it’s these lights they have, whatever they are they cause so much interference I can’t receive or transmit when I am at their place, is there anyway around that?

hey all, anyone else getting constant static on the thompson station repeater? its happening on all three of my radios

will do i also swapped the antennas as i put on the longer ones when i got these new radios and now i put the shorter ones on and now i can transmit, a couple of different people on the thompson station repeater replied back, if they are here and see this sorry i dont remember your call sign, but i also noticed now that i switched antennas when i transmit i get some static and a clunk like i am supposed too, but i dont get that on my td h3 and it kinda has me wondering if there is an issue with the antenna, might look into getting a replacement and testing to see

do i need to put both tx and rx ctcss?

i kinda could, i think i heard you like i said but it was broken and static, i dont know if its cause of distance or there is some sort of interference as like i said when inside their house on my tdh3 there is constant static, also i cannot hear myself when transmitting on the other radio(s)

home is in spring hill, i'm in adams visiting my inlaws

currently monitoring and transmitting on gallatin but so far nothing, i did make another post a while back about getting constant static on my tdh3 inside my inlaws house that goes away when i go outside, though even outside with my new ones i dont really hear anything, i did get a signal from the repeater which was morse code

i did try that and it comes up with aan error saying it reads as a uv-5g and to select the correct model EDIT i should have better read the error, it was showing as a different brand, switched to that brand (radioddity) and found my model and i am now able to program

yes i did and it doesnt list this one only the uv-5g pro

so i just checkked it again and someone said 15 days ago they couldnt reach it and mygmrs is telling me the closest one to me is in white house tn but that seems far away from me in adams tn, i also cannot get any programming software working with this radio, its either not listed or the software crashes when trying to do a handshake

i have gone ahead and gotten the baofeng uv-5g two pack off of amazon, currently up near clarksville visiting family and am trying to reach the following repeater https://mygmrs.com/repeater/9572

honestly not sure as i am still new to gmrs and these kind of radios

i thought of that but i would rather get a different brand

Wanted to update this, I have unlocked my H3 and programmed a few repeaters into it and can receive but not transmit, this thing is a dud and I plan to get something else, what that will be I don’t know yet, but thanks for the help so far

hey everyone i am visiting family currently and they live about half an hour or so outside of clarksville and no matter what i tune my radio too i get constant static, i have no idea why, it was working back home but here its like something is blocking all signal or something what could cause this? EDIT its something in their house causing, no idea what could do that though

that was not me, not sure my h3 could reach gallatin from spring hill but i will see about tuning in and see if maybe i will pick something up or if need be get some thing with a bit more powerr

it is gmrs and yes i am sure, if i use the default channels it seems to work but if i use one i program myself it doesnt seem to work for some reason

did a full reset of my radio and tried on RPT4 and managed to get a rreply, now just need to figure out why when i program a repeater that its not working
