I checked the menu and it was not set at 0 so I am guessing it is a hardware problem. Like I said it works great in bright light so technically still useable!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about it being a surface mount. Out of warranty and Btech said they would charge me around $150 to replace it. Thanks for responding.

No, and when I called Btech they wanted to charge me around $150 to replace/fix it.

Does anyone know if I can order a new backlight for this product? The radio works fine but I can only see the display if I shine a flashlight on it.
