Generally speaking but with something in the same form factor as this new Midland- I’d like the option for a removable antenna if (in trade) they would put a GPS antenna in it. Not dissimilar to the Garmin Rhino radios. So long as the fixed GPS would handle the data and I could have a removable VHF antenna to put on whatever I chose in the moment. Supposedly Midalnd has some more things coming out over the next year to include the GXT3000 so maybe something like that will be in the future. just a thought GF

That’s interesting and I wonder if that’s them responding to the USB-C charging desire that’s seen in a lot of the Amateur radio space for HT’s as well as the newer Wouxon offerings? I can sort of live with that because I can carry a battery bank as my “spare” which I already own.

Midland is releasing a portable/mobile repeater (a rebranded Retevis essentially). You can search repeater on the Midland website and it will come up as the MXR10. Has anyone ever used one of these for car camping or field work? Could be a useful item in some cases. GF

Do you feel that the changes in screen theme help at all with visibility when using outside? This seems like it would still share the same issue was the KG-935

As the title suggests, does anyone have experience with antenna performance when mounted under a truck topper such as Leer or ARE? My understanding from reading the several threads where this is mentioned is that fiberglass will not impact antenna performance. For reference I will be mounting under a Leer QR topper on a Ford F-250. I currently have the antenna mounted on the corner of the hood but I am considering a change due to car washes and to provide an overall cleaner appearance and profile. thank you!
