  1. Hey Dan,

I'm in southern California also, and suggest that you look into Crest comms.  They have a repeater located on Santiago Peak, near Corona, and they have a great signal.  You'll have to signup for access to the repeater (free), and sign an agreement, but it's an easy process and they get back to you quickly.

    Todd -

YOU ROCK. Thank you so much. I came across the CREST website a while back but for some reason overlooked the Palm Springs repeater listed on their site. I've reached out and am now waiting for a response - fingers crossed that it's accessible!

  2. Good luck taking the Tech Class license exam when they start testing again. Welcome to the group. GMRS is a lot of fun.

Thank you so much!! I'm actually looking in to Remote VE right now. I guess the FCC just started allowing it, so it's popping up all around the country now. GLAARG is supposed to be administering them remotely as well, but I hear it's very popular and fills up quickly.

  3. Hello!

My name is Dan and I'm in Palm Desert, CA. I just recently got my GMRS license and I'm studying up for my Technician License (fingers crossed they'll start testing again soon!!). Just wanted to say hello and thanks to everyone for being so active on here. I've learned so much just reading through posts and I hope to start joining in on the conversation.

If there's anyone in the Coachella Valley area that knows what's going on with the GMRS repeaters out here, feel free to reach out! I've been reading and finding that while there are some listed on various network maps, the owners are not responding to requests for access? Lemme know if you have any other results!

    Happy Thursday!

Edit: I'm narrowing it down to just the Coachella Valley area instead of SoCal/Coachella Valley. I'm not sure what's up with the repeaters outside of my area, so I don't want to assume anything!
