This 'certification process' is (to me) certainly confusing.

I wonder if it's because the technology moves at a faster pace then does the bureaucracy, or is there some other interest.

What is the BaoFeng 888 radios (or do you mean all BaoFengs).

This HT is new to me and so far it seems to be a good radio....equal or better than the UV 5R and noticeably better than Cobra MRHH425.

My family has started a small radio net (there are only five of us) and  the GT3 trans/rec on a 21 mile leg was LC.

 

After lengthy transmissons the battery pack does get warm, but not hot.

 

Presently I am attempting to rig up a solar panel to work as a charger. 

The price of these HT's is so reasonable each of us could store an extra radio with the charging solar panels in an ammo can for emergency use.
