I was playing around with this the other day and couldn't get it to work. So glad you posted this.
Thank you!B

After you set it to Off, make sure to press Menu again. Pressing Menu is what saves the current setting. Exit cancels the operation.

Thanks, I finally did figure out that you need to push and hold the exit button for 3 or 4 seconds to unlock it. It's not in the instruction sheet that I can find or it's written somewhere else in the sheet.

Ok this is a stupid question, I'll own that right up front.
I enabled the automatic keylock (menu item #11) and I have not been able to disable it. Yes I read the instructions and it says to deactivate it to press MENU and the UP/DOWN buttons to get back into the menu, but that does not seem to be working on my radio.
I'm sure it's somthing simple that I'm missing, but for the life of me I can't seem to figure out how to turn it off. Anyone know the trick?

Isn't KG-805G a UHF-only radio? Or does it have ability to receive VHF too? I guess, you try and tell us, if you can receive 162 MHz.
Well maybe that's what the issue is. I did try and program it with one of the weather channels, and it choked and wouldn't take it.

Hello,
I have a KG-805G GMRS radio I just picked up. I didn't realize that the NOAA weather channels are not available pre-programed. My understanding is that I can program them into the radio.
I have a programming cable and have the Wouxun software. I think that I have found my local NOAA weather stations here. Is the programming as simple as filling in the table? Obviously I want to only monitor those channels, is there a way set it up so it's listen only? I tried to do that but got a out of range message from the software.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I have a couple of KG805Gs and so far I think they about perfect for my application which is basic family communication. The price was right and they are better than my Motorola Talkabout radios which are pretty good in an of themselves.
