  1. Figured it out...radio will only transmit on 18-22 GMRS 50W or the repeater channels channels
  2. GMRS-50X1 Can't transmit on any channel, just get a beep and the meter moves at the bottom. If I tune to a specific channel on my Baofeng uv-5rhp I can hear the broadcast, but not able to transmit back. Anyone experience this or know what is up?
  3. Received this message from another ham...what do you guys think? "Metal mast is fine, its not much different than the antenna and its coax running down an insulated mast. You might want to check into grounding per the National Electrical Code, do a search on NEC article 810 which is specific for antennas."
  4. Did not know. Where does one get a fiberglass mast?
  5. For a mast I picked up 4 galvanized 10' "horizontal" steel fence pools from Lowe's, they are slotted so all will insert into each other, $10 each. Doing a 40' pole bolted to the side of the house.
  6. Could you recommend a purchase source?
  7. Perfect! What connector then would I use from the antenna, it has one of the standard connectors? What "N" would you recommend (brand) for the rest of the wire and to the radio that also has one of the standard connectors?
  8. I'll be running 400 ultra flex
  9. Exactly what I thought...Thanks! Going with the Diamond x300 off of amazon. Could you suggest a crimping tool and quality connectors?
  10. Thanks! Diamond BC-205 Antenna is being suggested by a shop over the Comet 712EFC or the Diamond x300. Not sure what to make of the advice...any input on the choice?
  11. "as well" as well as witch antenna? The Comet 712EFC will work on gmrs as a base?
  12. How will this one ( https://www.jpole-an...j-pole-antenna/ ) compared to the Comet 712EFC taking into consideration of the 40' height?
  13. Data sheets say "Comet 712EFC" is a Repeater antenna...can I use it as a simple base station antenna at 50 watt, no repeater? Cheaper = Comparable to the 712EFC? (Comet Original GP-1 146/446 MHz Dual Band Heavy-Duty Fiberglass Vertical Base Antenna - 4' 2", SO-239 Connector)
  14. Have one of these...how would it perform at 40 feet? https://www.jpole-antenna.com/shop/2-meter-amateur-radio-j-pole-antenna/ New Hope Pa terrain, sort of rolling hilly terrain near a river... 40.347883 | Longitude: -75.025406Altitude: 93 meters
  15. FYI - To add info to this post...No environmental restraints, can go as high as needed and NO wires or obstacles around.
