[Baofeng UV-5X GMRS]

The 5x Is a Bust.  You cannot change from Narrowband to wide and Can't change DSC or CCTS codes.  Theres an update for it but good lck finding it and getting it updated.  I sent my 4 Back.  Useless.  

[GMRS preference over HAM ? (for those holding both licenses)]

I'm getting my Ham License soon as I can.  But I went ahead and Got my 2nd GMRS because I let it expire and the fact that I accidentally loaded up wish at a resturaunt and some fool bumped my elbow  I inadvertantly hit a Baofang, Next thing I know like 3 months later   A UV5R+ shows up in my Mailbox. Now NO HAMS will talk to me!  So I just getting my General to listen but stilll talk on GMRS!         

 

I've got about 3 Grand in Radios and other equipment that covers anything I drive plus the House and RV.  Waiting on Mobile repeaters.   SO much for cheaper than HAM.

[Advice on an antenna]

The Nagoya 771C does not list going higher than 455Mhz  

There's an Updated that is out of stock listed as Nagoya NA-771G    G! 

I wish I could find one.

BUYTWOWAY Radio has a Nagoya NA 771G  Says it's tuned For GMRS But they are sold out of course and I cannot Find them anywhere else.   I did notice they sell them with a Bundled set of GMRS radios.  Anyone ever use that Antenna?  I think they come in 1/4 nd 1/2 wave.  Can't find them and No businesses actually use a phone now. Just internet.  OUT OF STOCK.
