Hi all, I'm new to GMRS and I've been trying to understand which one of these radios is the newer or more robust model. Apologies for resurrecting the old thread, but my searches aren't turning up the answer so far. IP67 is important for me. Both of these radios look like they'd be fine for me, so I'm having trouble choosing. Thank you!

I tried two different GMRS 9R's and both of them had reception problems. Transmitting was fine but when it came to receiving signals, they were deaf as a stump. I've never owned a UV-9G so I don't know if they have this problem or not. If you must have a radio with the IP67 rating, you might want to bite the bullet and buy a Wouxun KG-S88G.

  2. The GM-15 (which is the same radio as the Radioddity GM-30) is not yet supported in Chirp.

Go to Radioddity's website and download the programming software for the Radioddity GM-30. Works like a charm in Windows but don't know if it works with a Mac or not.

I can't get my UV-9G to transmit up 5 MHz I have it set to Plus offset and 005.000 set in the offset frequency. When I key the radio the frequency doesn't shift???

    Thanks, Bob R WRUE833

If you're programing the repeater on a repeater channel, it will transmit the offset automatically. You shouldn't have to do anything except program in the CTCSS or DCS tones for that particular repeater.

I purchased a Baofeng 9r and also a programming cable and it came with a mini cd . Since my laptop does not have a mini cd player I tried to download the Baofeng driver and it won't open saying the file is not compatible with the Adobe system. Any ideas? I am very new to GMRS.

If your laptop has a regular cd player, it should also play a mini cd.
