This radio is NOT related to either the DB20-G or even the DB25-G. It is a completely different UHF/VHF mini-mobile radio that also incorporates DMR. Apparently earlier in its life, and before substantial firmware upgrades were made, it was also released as the Retevis RT-73

TDMA, specifcally DMR, slot timing errors limiting range?
Lscott posted a question in Technical Discussion
I've read about there being range limitations when using TDMA digital modes, like DMR, due to clock drift in the base and mobile stations. The issue seems to be the slot timing verses distance and length of transmissions. See section 10.2.3.1.3 on page 112 in the following link to one of the ESTI DMR standards. https://www.etsi.org/deliver/etsi_ts/102300_102399/10236101/02.03.01_60/ts_10236101v020301p.pdf Anybody have any experience with this or did the detailed calculations for their installation? I've seen comments where some have gone to FDMA type modes to avoid this issue.- 5 replies

It is unclear if the FCC would consider permitting any digital voice modes in the GMRS in the near future, particularly since they just released new rules in 2017. If they did consider this, should they permit a particular mode, such as P25, dPMR, DMR, NXDN, (other?), some, or all? Should it be limited to simplex/direct mode, or should repeaters be included?

I got my ham license in December. I'm mostly geared up for GMRS with mobile radios in the cars and at home. Plus, the local GMRS repeater is a beast. Compared to the ham analog repeaters, GMRS and DMR are proving to be my favorites. I have the best quality traffic on both. I think having antennas tuned to GMRS may contribute to that, although with DMR I'm using HT antennas. For amateur radio, I'm dependent on a Baofeng UV-5R and a Retevis RT3S, both portables. Waiting on my wallet to cool off before buying mobile units for amateur radio. Although, DMR might just keep me on HT. I enjoy that there is no picket fencing as I'm driving around like I hear on my mobile.
