As always, thanks for taking the time out of your busy week to check-in and get to know each other a little better. Tonight's question was: "If you could live in any era of history (as a young adult), which would you choose and why?" LOTS of people said the mid 1980's due to the land prices, music, economy, and even to fix some life mistakes. Other answers were the Mountain Man Trapping era of the 1820's-1840's, the Early 1950's to buy as many "five window GM trucks as possible" and many other answers. You'll need to join us for a net to hear all of the answers. We usually have great conversation after the net has closed, so always feel free to hang around and chat. The answers this week were - Shiny Spear, Kukri or Bolo, and a whiskey still to make sure you can desalinate sea water and also make your own banana and/or coconut rum. WSDV406 Posted October 15, 2025 Author Posted October 15, 2025 Apologies for my tardiness in getting the last couple of weeks' net summaries posted in a timely manner. Allow me to catch up on the last two weeks here on this one post..... On 10/1, @TheMeatTrapper (WRMN250), @lux4227 (WRZN377), @WSDV406 (Me), @SteveGibbs (WSDV443), WRXS569, & @WSGE773 took time out of their busy week to check-in. This week's question was "What Got you into radio in general, and GMRS radio specifically?" Answers ranged from SHTF/prepping to CB radio to DX'ing and more. On 10/8, @WSBP204, @lux4227 (WRZN377), @WSDV406 (Me), @SteveGibbs (WSDV443), WRUP567, WRXS569, & @WSGE773 graciously joined the net to connect with each other. That week's question was "Whether you're watching sports or playing radio, what is your go-to snack?" Answers were tastiness as simple as "mountain dew" to "bacon + pretzel thins + boursin cheese". Thanks to EVERYONE who has the courage and takes the time to key up and join the net. All yall that listen and don't key up, we love ya. We'd love to talk to ya. Hit that PTT button. We'll all be better for it. See yall tomorrow night at 8pm sharp.

It was an interesting one. This week's question was "What was your favorite Halloween costume?" We had LOTS of responses of dracula/vampire representations. A couple of Uncle Sam answers. Army men. And even a Wednesday Adams. This week's question was "Without incriminating yourself, what's your favorite occasional guilty pleasure?" We had a great mix of OG's and newcomers tonight. We were sad to not hear some regulars (always make sure to check on your friends you haven't heard from in a while, fyi). If they turn out to be ok, then make sure they know that they'll be tar and feathered if they miss more than two nets in a row. ;-). Some of the answers to tonight's question were: Ice cream for breakfast, sweet tea with a splash of Absolute vodka, a large piece of cheescake, spending $1000's on radio gear, small time sports betting (just to keep otherwise un-interesting games, interesting), and SOOO many more. If you want the full story, you'll have to monitor (or even better, hit that PTT button and check-in) on Wednesdays at 8pm. Thanks to everyone that takes time out of their busy week to join these weekly nets. We do this not only to have some fun and get to know each other a bit, but also to know who is available to count on during times of emergency. *Point your browser to (or share with a friend) SCTNGMRS.com or SouthCentralTNGMRS.com for easy access to the club page.....and make sure to click "follow" so you can stay up to date with new posts in our club forum.*

This week's question was a two-parter: What is your favorite scary/horror/Halloween-themed movie and/or do you participate in handing out candy or do you turn the lights off and hibernate? Some of the answers tonight were: The Exorcist, Hocus Pocus, Night of the Living Dead, but -- as always -- you'll have to join the net (or at least listen to it) to get the full array of answers. WSDV406 Posted November 6, 2025 Author Posted November 6, 2025 Thanks to everyone who took time out of their busy week to take part in the weekly Get To Know Ya Check-In Net! This week's question came to me as I scoffed at seeing Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas decor in box stores all at the same time over the last couple of week. The question was: “Do you decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving or wait until the Turkey has had his day?” It was kind of an either/or array of answer tonight, but the tally surprised me -- as always -- you'll have to join the net (or at least listen to it) to get the full array of answers. Thanks again to everyone that takes time out of their busy week to join these weekly nets. Tonight's answers included: "the Northern lights, meteor showers, watching satellites and the ISS, monitoring solar activity and its affect on radio transmissions", and many more. EchoCQ73 Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 hey 406, I just got back from Indiana, it was a fun trip, sorry if unrelated.
WSDV406 Posted December 7, 2025 Author Posted December 7, 2025 Apologies for neglecting to update this post after the last two weeks' nets. Allow me to cover both here in one post. On 11/26/25, we had our first annual "Turkey Net" (so named by @WSFA364). That evenings get-to-know-ya question was from the very same station as well. "What is your favorite game / activity to do at Thanksgiving get-togethers?" Thanks to @WSKH224, @WSAY284, @WSFA364 (though he almost missed the net of which he inspired ), @lux4227 (WRZN377), @WSDV406 (me), @SteveGibbs (WSBN443), and @EchoCQ73 (WSJU904) for checking in on a busy Thanksgiving Eve. The answers ranged from skeet shooting to Jujitsu competition, to board games, watching football, and playing actual football. On 12/03/25, the question was "Regarding Christmas decorations, are you more of a Scrooge or a Clark Griswald or somewhere in between?". Thanks to @WSKH224, @WSAY284, @WSFA364, @lux4227 (WRZN377), @WSDV406 (me), @SteveGibbs (WSBN443), @WSGE773, and @EchoCQ73 (WSJU904) for taking part in this week's net. Answers obviously ranged from Griswald to Grinch, but the elaborations were immaculate. You don't have to key up to a part of the net. Just monitor, if you wish. Every single week I'm surprised by at least one stations' answer -- and I LOVE it. Encourage your friends to join us and key up. They don't have a call sign yet? ok. That's cool. Let them use yours. GMRS license extends to all "family". Thanks again to everyone that takes time out of their busy week to join these weekly nets. We do this not only to have some fun and get to know each other a bit, but also to know who is available to count on during times of emergency. Join us at 462.600 each Wednesday at 8pm. Tonight's question was: “Do you prefer a real or fake tree and/or do you rock cool white, warm white, multi-color, or a mixture of lights on said tree?” I'm please to announce that we do not have any commies in our midst. Well, not from my perspective, anyway. Anyone who prefers cool white lights is a communist in my opinion. (this is a joke -- but not really ). Lots of great answers tonight of what types of trees and lights people prefer. Join us on the net for a little bit of great conversation each week. This week's question was: “What’s your favorite Christmas movie?” This week's question was inspired by the Gallatin net this past Saturday night (which takes place on 462.650) where the very awesome net controller Lucas (WSGW884) asked a similar question. The answers serve as a list of must-watch movies for your holiday season. Everything from White Christmas, to Christmas Vacation, to newer titles like Red One and Violent Night. You'll have to monitor the nets for the full list of answers each week . Thanks again to everyone that takes time out of their busy week to join these weekly nets. We do this not only to have some fun and get to know each other a bit, but also to know who is available to count on during times of emergency. It's been nice to hear some OG voices in the net the last few weeks but also some new comers as well. WSDV406 Posted December 26, 2025 Author Posted December 26, 2025 Thanks to @WSKH224, @TheMeatTrapper (WRMN250), @WSAY284 (along with three of 284's grandkids and family members who were all gathered for Christmas Eve), @WSFA364, @lux4227 (WRZN377), @WSDV406 (Me), @WSIY431, WRQC456 , WSKN497, WRXC726, and @WSIS745 for checking into the net yesterday evening! This week's question was: “What’s the most memorable gift you ever received (or given) on Christmas?” The answers ranged from funny to heartfelt gifts and there was a DEFINITE pattern of most memorable gifts received being a firearm, bb/pellet gun, and/or edged tool. But other answers shared were a two-seater go-car (in the box, wrapped up, and left under the tree for an extended period of time to drive curiosity), the gift given to one's dad of a child's favorite rock, the announcement of being pregnant with one's first child, and a vinyl copy of THE most iconic Foreigner album. Thanks again to everyone that takes time out of their busy week to join these weekly nets. We do this not only to have some fun and get to know each other a bit, but also to know who is available to count on during times of emergency.
