KRG-49D Help files

Question

Posted

I can't get the Microsoft 'fix' for viewing the old .hlp files to work on my Windows 10 machine so I can use the KPG-49D HELP files. VERY FRUSTRATING!  Does anyone have the HELP files for Kenwood's KPG-49D Version 4.21 in text (.txt) or Microsoft Word or PDF or any other file type that I can download?  Thanks in advance.

I just used Convert.Guru HLP to TXT converter (https://convert.guru/hlp-converter) to convert the 7 HLP files in 49D Version 6.30 and attached them to this post. Slightly different version but should be close enough...

49D Help Files.zip 79.69 kB · 3 downloads

There is a file you can download which will open the old style MS help files. I have to find it again on-line to load up on a couple of my Win10 Pro computers.

Even with the utility clicking on Help in the program will fail. You have to click on the help files themselves and set the utility as the default program to open them. Once done then just create a shortcut to the specific help files themselves and keep it with the one for the programming software.

I think you can try the link below for instructions on how to locate the utility and install it.

Thanks for the text file MarkinTampa.  I’m surprised it’s from a 6.30 version (mine is a 4.21 version) cause it reads like a dos file, but I’m not complaining…..I knew it would be difficult to reference.  Thanks again.  And Lscott, thanks for the reference but I’ve tried that, and the x64, and the x86 versions and none of them will download, they just spin in a loop.  Not sure what to do next but use the text files. :(
