Due to the general state of things I thought it be a good idea to get licensed and buy a radio. So here I am in Eagle Rock with a Baofeng UV-5RA. Trying to learn all things radio. Looking for active repeaters in the area that I may be able to hit with my puny radio.

Hope to see you all on the other side

Welcome. Despite what you may read, the UV-5 series radios are decent radios. I use one on GMRS as well as amateur bands. Get yourself an aftermarket antenna and you’ll be well served. I recommend the Nagoya 701. Again, welcome and enjoy. Read as much as you can and there’s plenty to learn.

Welcome. ...

Note, stiggs13’s last login was two days after their original post in this thread. Also, as Jones pointed out the call sign isn’t a valid GMRS call sign. Probably a typo, since they were able to create an account. But, still, it would be nice to get it corrected, and know they were still interested.
