Baofeng UV-9G reception on non-GMRS frequencies

It may be in my head, but I just got one of the new Baofeng UV-9g radios and I have noticed that it has trouble picking up some of the non-GMRS frequencies like the NOAA stations and regular FM radio. I know that those are not the intended frequencies for the radio and maybe it is “tuned” differently, but an older UV-5Rv2+ I have seems to pick those up much better using the same antenna on both radios. It is nice to finally have a certified radio for GMRS, but I just want to make sure that there might not be something wrong with the new radio.  Let me know if this makes sense. It seems to operate fine on all the GMRS frequencies, which is the intended purpose.

You check the squelch settings?

Currently set at 2 in the menu. Not very high, but I am the last person who would be called an expert at radio right now. . Thanks!

The location where you use the radio can make a huge difference in your reception. Try moving around and even try outside.

Thanks for the help!  I’ll play around with it and see.  It may have been the location(and maybe in my head ), as it seems to be a little better now.
