Painting a BR-450 antenna black

This may seem like an odd question, but can one paint a Browning BR-450 black to help it be less visible and not affect the performance?

Resolute and affirmative YES. But not with metallic paints. Just any black primer or matte no frills paint will do. Your goal is to hide it from HOA, correct? Not so odd question.
