Lscott Posted June 28, 2023 Report Posted June 28, 2023 Due to the crazy Canadian wildfires the Detroit area has one of the nations highest (worst) AQI, air quality indexes, the last day or so at 299! https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/detroit/48226/air-quality-index/348755 That got me thinking about using a mask to filter out the smoke particles and still use a two way radio. They make some systems to use with some types of masks. https://www.mirasafety.com/blogs/news/communications-earpiece-gas-mask-comms Anyone ever use something like this? Quote
WRHS218 Posted June 29, 2023 Report Posted June 29, 2023 I used to have to wear a full face type respirator and sometimes a SCBA in my job. Every time I used one of these I would have to maintain radio coms. We never used any of the options you linked to (it was a long time ago), we just had a handheld that we would hold up to the exhale valve to talk and then hold it up to our ear to listen. We were in a mostly hot, loud, hazardous environment. It wasn't an every day event so the money wasn't spent for a good solution. Lscott and gortex2 2 Quote
