jimdoc Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 Hopefully this is interesting ... if not please let me know... and you can have the moderator remove the thread. I live in Dr. Phillips and have been doing some reception/distance checks on Mouse XXX in preparation for the Bay Hill Golf Tournament. (I will be walking the course) My testing methodology is that my wife stays at home base and I walk with my handhelds to see when the signal begins to break up. Results so far... 1) South end (Bay Vista Estates) to Bay Hill North - Great Coverage. In fact when I was on Sand Lake Road the coverage extended all the way to the border of the Ocoee/Winter Garden. 2) Today I went to I-Drive and Sand Lake... no problem. 'Restaurant Row' totally covered with excellent coverage. However, their may be an issue with tall buildings (Hotels) because GMRS is LoS for optimal performance. I hade some issues when I wandered behind the tall buildings on the corner. Tomorrow, I will walk I-Drive from Sand Lake to 528 and do performance checks. Sea World should be a 'piece of cake' More to follow.... The tests are with GMRS compliant radios running at <_ x-watts Bottom Line so far is 1) I am amazed of the performance of the repeater ... 2) This could be huge for the I-Drive / Universal / Seal World business (tourist) corridor for members that may be coming to the tourist area and want to keep track of different family agendas. cdesigns Posted September 30, 2016 Report Posted September 30, 2016 I live in Clermont, FL and I can't hit that repeater with 25 watts and 20' antenna, but I'm able to hit Ham radio repeaters close by with my HT and stock antenna from inside my home and 5 watts, do you know if is still running? jwilkers Posted October 7, 2016 Report Posted October 7, 2016 I tried the Disney repeater when we were there in July. Never made it in. AntiSquid Disclaimer: All comments made are personal opinion only and may not indicate actual fact. Logan5 1 Quote
