bmoe Posted February 27 Report Posted February 27 Good morning all, I recently got approved to use a repeater very close to my house that is listed here on the map. It has a frequency but no input or output tones listed. Do I just plug in the frequency with a +005.000 offset? Thanks for the help. Quote
OffRoaderX Posted February 27 Report Posted February 27 If you are using a real GMRS radio you dont need to hassle with the offset, just switch to the correct repeater channel - IF the repeater truly does not require a tone, then thats all you need. My guess is that it does need a tone, but it's just not there for whatever reason. Quote
bmoe Posted February 27 Author Report Posted February 27 Copy that, thanks for the quick reply. UV-5R. Now I’m wondering if I should get a pair of the UV-5G’s. Quote

Sure looks like they want you to use it without a tone. Yeah: keep that UV-5R for when you get your Technician license and get an UV-5G for GMRS. Apparently there is a new UV-5GPLUS that is now available too; I was not aware of it until I recently walked into a wall thinking it was the original 5G(X). Like Mr. Natural says: Get the right tool for the job! Quote
bmoe Posted February 28 Author Report Posted February 28 That is indeed the repeater. Lol, thanks for the reply. Quote
