Receiving unable to transmit

Hey all I think I have my radio setup correctly but I don’t seem to be able to transmit, I have a tidradio td-h3, I programmed the Thompson station repeater into it and heard a few people but no one could hear me, any advice?

When you attempt to transmit, do you hear the repeater "squelch tail" (signal without modulation) for a few seconds after you release the PTT button?

no i hear nothing when pressing transmit
