The Motorola guide is their recommendation but not a NEC requirement, however their guideline does meet NEC grounding specifications. To meet code, grounding requirements must meet the NEC

That Sir, Is Not Correct. I Suggest You Do Further Research, And Consult The Motorola R56 Manual For Site Grounding Requirements For Commercial Sites. See Link: https://wiki.w9cr.net/images/1/14/Motorola-Standards-and-Guidelines-for-Communication-Sites-R56-Manual_68P81089E50-B.pdf Further - 500 MCM Is Not, And Has Never Been Required Or Recommended Anywhere For System Site Grounding On Any Communication Sites, Regardless Of Tower Height.

That’s the same reasons why cell phones are not enough on land.

Maybe the woxoun can’t drive an external speaker very well but with a the $125 tyt radios we use in all our trucks the used Motorolas speakers are very very loud. I can hear them on a dirt road in a 35yr old diesel truck with the windows open and a 10,000lb horse trailer in tow. I can hear my base station with a Motorola speaker in any room in the house. sorry to here about the kg-1000. Btw

Proper grounding can only be achieved by using 500MCM wire. Using anything less is totally and utterly foolish and breaks all safety and grounding requirements.

Not all crimes are illegal. Everything is relative. It was only an analogy after all. I don’t understand why anyone would be remotely interested in using a repeater where the owner doesn’t want you. Nor would I want to use a repeater where I felt the owner had unreasonable rules. I’ve seen that too. I just wouldn’t care and I’d find an alternative. Well looks like I’m out of give a shits on this one. I have literally become bored with the subject. Who knew

Being in compliance with the law doesn't necessarily mean you are morally and ethically correct. Man's laws are often in direct contravention to what is right and just. To put it another way, we have a "legal" system, not a "justice" system.

I operate within the law.. Now sometimes that might piss someone off and sometimes i might get a kick out of their crying response.. But if someone treats me with respect, they get it back,, Every time.

Obviously, I can hold the mic to my ear, however, for longer periods I am looking for an external Speaker (amplified). Remember the speakers we used to have for our PC's, they had small amps in them. I have it mounted just behind the center console of a 4 Door Toyota Tacoma. 4 Door Truck. I bought a Uniden Bearcat Speaker and it is not as loud as the radio. Is anyone found a speaker that can be turned up. I am 60 and worked in industry. I don't really want to wear a headset, which seams dangerous to me. Help. Any radio is no good unless it can be heard clearly. Note: I have a VHF Yaesu FTM-400 with a Yaesu external speaker and that radio can drive the speaker well. Jeff W Waldrop

True it's not a crime. But it is unethical and possibly immoral. Folks doing things "just because they can" without regard to others rights and personal property just makes for unnecessary grief. And as mom would say "it's just plain rude". So ask yourself this question, were you raised that way?

You Need To Ground The Tower Leg. The Antenna Is Already Connected To The Tower For Grounding Purposes. The Coaxial Cable Should Also Have The Shielding Bonded To The Single Point Ground System. Unless You Have A Particular Type Of Commercial Antenna That Has Designated Grounding Straps At The Antenna - The Type Of Stick Does Not Matter. A Lightning Arrester Is Also Recommended - PolyPhaser Makes An Excellent Arrester, Used Frequently On Commercial Radio Sites.
-
NEC says ground the Tower to common ground, the same ground your radio equipment is grounded to, your main electric panel ground. Some folks add a separate ground for the tower but NEC says to ground that to your common. BTW, your antenna is grounded to the tower via the mounting so no you dont need to ground to antenna

So that’s not “high gain” in any ones world. And you really need to do some research’s BEFORE you put this up. You may have local ordinances regarding grounding and how they want it done. You may have home owners insurance issues. This is the type of thing that can burn your house down. Love the safety straps/harness and proper boots for climbing as well.

I have a MA09 High Gain 462~467MHz GMRS Omni-Directional Base Antenna 4.5/7.2 dBi High Gain Fiberglass Antenna 5.75’ height. On a 30' tower do I need to put a ground wire on this antenna?

Nice free standing but that wouldn't last a minute here in the High Desert today.. We are seeing 50 mile an hour gust today..

But stealing a car is a crime whereas using somones repeater without permission is not.

A Rohn 25G makes an excellent light duty mast, just pick your height and get the amount of 10' sections and a top section to get off to a great start.

Q: Which band are you working today? A: Yes. It's been interesting following the FTX-1 pre-order drama online, I guess. People walking into Hamvention and walking out with one, while pre-orders have not been shipped yet. Seems like HRO is shipping out orders now though.
-
And that, in a nutshell, is the entire point of this thread.

Yep, this is why "you share the road" on GMRS. You only have eight lanes and should you want to deploy a repeater, just pick a lane. This means that ALL users are on that lane and they learn to coexist as nobody would intentionally interfere with the other repeater. Of course you will always get that ONE person that will try to get you to move because they bought their equipment and think they own the frequency. Hey, it's all about community spirit and working together.
