Saw a commercial on TV for these the other night, got curious, looked them up: https://rapidradios.com/ So wondering how they don't charge any type of monthly fee for access to an LTE/cell network? Also, they mention SHTF use in the FAQ, but wouldn't cell towers be down in that situation? lol Price is pretty hefty as well.

While technically not an accessory, RT-Systems programming software is always an extra "cha-ching" that makes life easier with a new radio. Also, cig lighter car charger is another one I usually add to the kit.

So are name brand (ex Yaesu/motorola/kenwood) accessories worth the price? Finding that I spend more on on extra batteries, antenna upgrade, headset, hand mic, rapid charger than the price of the actual radio new. I'd compare it to buying extras for a new rifle (optic/mags/ect) so you better have allocated funds budgeted.

Pretty disappointed after watching the review. (thx) Wonder if there will be a V2 in a year or so? I'll stay with my retevis RT97 repeater in the meantime. -
Also, is there a good way to track and tag batteries? Color dots or using a labeler? Seems there is always one dud battery that gets back into the mix...

I have a few radios I am putting into storage in a pelican case - do you remove the batteries or keep them in the radio itself? Thx

I picked up a DTR 650 recently and I'm going over all the features - is there a way to lock the key buttons on the radio? Perhaps I missed it in the manual, couldn't find it.

I bought two of these to play around with, got about a mile with the stock antenna in my neighborhood. I had a few text messages go through even though the app indicated they did not when it was out of the mile radius. Anyone have a recommendation for a better antenna? Thinking outdoor pole mount. Thx

I've got an MFJ-1719S on my Yaesu 70D that I use just when I want to keep a compact feel to the radio, kind of more like a large cell phone. Anyone else use these types of antennas? I guess it depends on the situation - easier to put in a coat pocket or backpack, quick grab, accessible.

On one of the GMRS local repeaters I monitor I hear data burst sounds every now and then -- is it ok to do this without permission from the owner?
