  2. Just food for thought, with the GMRS-V1 you can get the use you want for your needs, to include programming your weather band channels and be compliant with the FCC parts 95A & 15B. The cost of this model maybe more than what you want to pay (currently$54.99) from BTech and Amazon) but at least you will be legal in operating. Sent from my XT1049 using Tapatalk
  3. Hello, To answer your question, I figured it out by trial and error although YouTube might have something. Just remember that using CHIRP software you are putting the receive frequency in the radio. If I happen to come across anything else, I will let you know. 4. Hello Dimitry, I have had a similar radio to your GMRS V-1 by BTech for some time now and what I have found that works for me is to purchase a programming cable from the manufacturer. (A word of caution, there does exist many after market programming cables that are somewhat cheaper but it is my advice to go with the cable sold by BTech or Baofeng.) Once you get this programming cable, the next thing to do is go to Miklor.com and download their free CHIRP software and open it up. Once this is done, first thing to do is upload the firmware from the radio. Now you can make the necessary changes you want or need for your area and download it into the radio. Another word of advice, I am sure you know by now that you can only receive outside the GMRS spectrum. I would highly recommend programming the seven NOAA weather radio frequencies and perhaps local ham radio repeaters BUT, be cautious about programming in public safety frequencies (police, fire, EMS, etc.). Laws vary from state to state and even within some communities as to whether or not it is legal to listen or monitor those frequencies while walking around or using your radio that way inside of a vehicle. (There are legal ways to avoid having that problem, if it exists where you live or work, such as getting a ham radio license or joining your local CERT organization.) Hope this helps you and enjoy your new radio. Best wishes, Joe, WQXS544/KB9LXH Sent from my XT1049 using Tapatalk

  6. Update: Baofeng Tech (BTech) does make and sells a Part 95A compliant handheld transceiver called the GMRS-V1 that has all GMRS frequencies but only allows you to receive other VHF/UHF frequencies which is Part 15 compliant. With a programming cable and CHIRP software you are able to program the GMRS-V1 easily. Please note however, you will not be able to transmit on any amateur radio frequencies just receive. Hope that helps. Sent from my XT1049 using Tapatalk
  7. According to FCC 97.113(, one-way Communications, such as you described are prohibited. Sent from my XT1049 using Tapatalk
  8. If you are using EchoLink on a Android device, try using the back arrow on the bottom of the device. When I use that, I receive a prompt asking if I want to log off. Hope that helps. 73, KB9LXH Sent from my XT1049 using Tapatalk
