Repeater Antenna HAAT & ERP Has A Lot More To Do With Access & Reception From A Site When In Comparison. One Cannot Evaluate Different Site Performance Results If All Parameters & Infrastructure Elements Are Not Equal. Your Observation Has Nothing To Do With Offsets In Programming.

CTCSS and DCS, Does it make a difference?
WRXL702 replied to WSAH786's question in Technical Discussion
I Wouldn't If It Were My Radio......... Connect A Dummy Load Or Antenna In Case You Accidentally Transmit So You Don't Jeopardize The Amplifier Finals. But If Just A Power Up To Program & No Chance Of Transmitting - Go For It. -
A Short / Stubby (Helical) Antenna In UHF & VHF, Has Been Used For Many Years In Public Safety Applications. I Personally Use An OEM KRA23M Kenwood Helical On My NX 1300 AU With Actually Equal To Or Better Performance Than The Standard Whip. You Will Usually Find The Same Results With A Good Quality Stubby Antenna.

For Those That Do Not Like How The FCC Conducts Or Lists Infractions And Or Rule Violations, I Suggest You Contact The FCC & Wage Your Complaint / Frustrations / Suggestions. For Those That Are Still "Whining" That GMRS Linking Is Gone - Suggest You Grab A Shot & A Beer & Cry Yourself To Sleep Tonight. I'm Done With This Ridiculous & Long Drug Out Discussion. Wishing All A Safe & Happy Thanksgiving. Much More To Life Than Discussing GMRS Repeater Linking........
-
As Stated Previously - Reach Out & Contact The Recipient....... You May Additionally Inquire About His Phone Conversations That He Had With An Official With The FCC Enforcement Division. You Could Also Reach Out To The Administrator Of GMRSLive, As He Contacted & Requested The FCC Documentation From The Midwest GMRS Repeater Owner. After Receipt & Review, The Final Site Notice From GMRSLive Made Reference To The Received Notification, Which He Stated, Was Instrumental On His Decision To Shut Down Linking GMRS Servers.
-
Really...... You Are Welcome To Contact WRAX542 To See If He Would Furnish You With His Received Correspondence From The FCC, Concerning The Linking Of His GMRS Repeaters On The Midwest Network. He Also Provided That Correspondence To The Owner Of GMRSLive, Upon His Request, To Help With His Decision On The Termination Of Servers Providing Linking On That Network Site.

The Importance of Amateur Radio in Communication
WRXL702 replied to louie535's topic in General Discussion
......And GMRS Station Operators & Repeater Owners Do The Same For Emergency Communications Just As Well - If Not Better. -
This Isn't Really About LMR 400 vs Heliax Coaxial Cable. The Loss Comparison Is Minimal, & Not That Relevant. This Is More About The Installation - "A Transceiver Stick In A Tree." My Suggestion, As You Could Do Just As Well With A Roof Mount Antenna - Loose The Additional Tree Branch & Keep The LMR 400.
-
As I Stated - Check With The Source Of The Station Parameters. This Is A Question That Should Be Addressed To The Repeater Owner - Source. Really Not A Forum Q&A Discussion.
-
Think I Would Check "Sources." Most GMRS Repeaters Are On Wide Band. Might Be Watching Too Much "You Tube."
-
If The Repeater Is Set At Narrow Band (12.5 KHz) & You Are Transmitting Into That Repeater Wide Band (25 KHz) - Over 50% Of Your Audio Will Be "Clipped" & Will Sound Extremely Quiet, Depending Distance .

How can I put my repeater on high ground if I dont own any ?
WRXL702 replied to WSEM262's topic in General Discussion
With All Due Respect - You Are Wanting To Establish A New "Small / Baby Repeater Station" In An Already Saturated GMRS Repeater Area. Also, Many Folks Have A Misconception About Their Future GMRS Repeaters & The Performance With The Mind Set - "I Have My Own Repeater & Now I Can Talk Several Miles Further." Unless You Are Considering, At A Minimum, An $8000 to $12000 Investment Into A Repeater Site / Station With Utilizing Tower Rental Only, Installing New Cabling & Infrastructure, & Not Erecting Your Own Usable Higher Tower At A Higher HAAT - You Are Just Wasting Your Time & $$. Wish You Well & Good Luck....... -
Well It's Not 14 Users Anymore, Since You Posted The DPL Tones On This Forum........... That Should NEVER Be Posted On A Social Media Site, For Anyone To Read..........
-
GMRS Repeater Owners Are Not Required To List On Any Web Site. I Suggest You Monitor - Catch A Call Sign Or Two - An Attempt To Find The Repeater Owner For Access...... Good Luck.

Equipment Confiscation Can Get Ugly When Executed With A Federal Warrant. Wouldn't Want To Be On The "Wait & See Receiving End" On This Cartoon To See How It Plays Out With Some Folks.......
-
Use The URL Not The App. The App Sometimes Just List Repeaters In Your Immediate Location, Based On The Parameters You Have On In Preferences.
-
.....So Then Just Buy A Satellite Telephone, Use For Emergencies, If Needed In Excess Of One Hundred Miles - And Get Over The Ruling For The Original Purpose & Intent Of GMRS Radio. No Need To Worry About Any Of The Excuses For Not Advancing Into The Ham Radio Spectrum As An Alternative.
