  1. If The Repeater Owner Has Previous Approved Or Denied Requests Attached To Their myGMRS Repeater Log, The "Request Access Disabled" Function Is No Longer An Option, Regardless Whether The Station Is Listed As Open - With Or Without The Squelch Tones. The Only Way To Correct & Have That Option Available, Is To Delete The Listing, Which Deletes Previous Requests, & Re-post The Repeater Station. Some Repeater Operators In WI Done That When They Went From A Paid To An Open Repeater Station.
  2. The Frida 700 Station Has Never Been Built Out Or Put Into Service. Some Folks Like To Post A Station To Mark A Geographic Area They Are Considering For A Repeater Someday. The Problem Is That "Someday" Doesn't Seem To Happen. You're Welcome To Put In A Request For My Niles 725, It's In Service & Has A Good Footprint For South Western Lower Michigan & Northern IN. You Will Also Receive The Indiana Osceola 600 Which Covers A Portion Of Southern Michigan As Well........
  3. Then Folks Should Refrain On Commenting "Not Quite" If They Are Siting An "Example / Opinion" Of Documented FCC Definitions.....
  4. FCC Part 95 Subpart A - 95.303 Definitions: Base station. A station at a fixed location that communicates directly with mobile stations and other base stations. Fixed station. A station at a fixed location that directly communicates with other fixed stations only. The Term "DATA" Is Not Referenced In These Definitions For The Type Of Transmission. https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-47/chapter-I/subchapter-D/part-95/subpart-A
  5. Nitrogen Is Used On An Air Dielectric Coaxial Cable To Keep The Cable Slightly Pressurized & Reduce The Chance Of Moisture Infiltration. It Is Never Required For Any Purpose Or Use On Foam Type Dielectric Hardline.
  6. Then Why Post A Deffiniton Of "Code Talker." Makes No Sense & Totally Irrelevant. FCC Definitions Are Quite Clear To Me.......
  7. "Code Talker" Is Not Mentioned Anywhere In FCC Regulations, Part 95 Subpart E Why Are You Displaying Definitions For Terms That Are Irrelevant ? The Part 95 Regs For GMRS Are Quite Clear - Guess Folks Just Need To Learn How To Read & Understand Them.....
  8. Well..... Sorry You're Not Impressed - This Site Is Outstanding You Are Unfortunately Wrong - There Are Many Daily Posts Containing Great Info & Discussions And It's Too Bad You Don't Have An Adequate Security Subscription In Place To Guard Against Possibly Some Of Your Previously Scrupulous Websites You Have Visited. Don't Throw Blame That You Cannot Confirm. Rich & His Staff Has Done One Hell Of A Job On This Site & It's Offensive That You Post This Type Of BS Be That As It May: Maybe GMRS Radio / Forums - Are Not For You At All.....
  9. Folks Need To Remember / Research NAFTA, & How It Has Miserably Failed...... Originally Drafted In The Late 70's & Only Major Corps & Investors Benefitted. NAFTA Destroyed US Manufacturing...........
  10. Wrong, Wrong & Wrong..... This Is Not A Squelch Tail, It Is The Repeater Hang Time Where The Transmitter Remains Open, But The Receiver Is Closed Waiting For The Correct CTCSS Or DCS To Reopen The Receiver For Retransmit. It Is Normally Set To 2 to 3 Seconds, Not Minutes. The Intent Purpose Of A Repeater Hang Time, Is To Enable Users To Reactivate The Repeater With The Correct "Tones" So As Not To Have A Repeater Drop Out Completely & Restart The Transmit Cycle. Squelch Tail Is Something Completely Different, & The Repeater Hang Time Is In Place To Help Continue Convos & Should Be Used For It's Intended Purpose To Save On A Complete Restart Of A Repeater..........
  11. Mr Shannon - You Are Point Blank Wrong...... Re-Evaluate Your Research...... Again, As I Stated Yesterday On Another Forum Question, There Are Those That Will Consistently Argue There Point To Get The Last Word. All Cell, Public Safety, Municipal & Commercial Radio Site System Installations - Wrap N Connectors For Moisture..... I Can See Why, Among Other Things, WRKC935 Bailed On This Ridiculous Forum, As Is Mine After Tonight. Too Many Book Smart, But Street Less Then Street Knowledgeable Folks Posting Ridiculous Opinions For New Users. Good Luck To You All - Hope You Get In Your Last Word - Peace Out...........
  12. Or..... Back To More You Tube Book Smart & Street Stupid Professors & Vids........ Good Luck In Finding The Solution To Properly Wrapping / Weatherproofing Your Station Outdoor RF Connectors.
  13. N Type Connectors Are Not Sealed Any Better Then A UHF Connector - Neither Are Sealed To Outside Elements..... Amusing Statement - N Connectors Were Utilized In My 800 MHz Business Repeater Station, Along With My (2) Currant Large Footprint GMRS Repeater Stations, The Osceola 600 (Indiana) & Niles 725 (Michigan). So In Answer To Your Question, Yes I Have Seen An N Type Connector Or Two, & Know There Limitations For Outside Moisture Ingress........
  14. N Type Connectors Are Not Sealed, Nor Are They Sealed Any Better Than Any Other RF Connector Used In An Outside Application. Grease On The Threads On A Coax Connector Has Nothing To Do With Preventing Moisture Ingress. They Are A Running Thread, Not A Pipe Thread, Therefore A Grease Compound Is Not The Solution For Proper Outside RF Connector Waterproofing. Proper Wrapping 1st With A Quality Butyl Tape From The Bottom Up & Then Covering With A Quality Electrical Tape, Again From The Bottom Up Will Ensure Proper Moisture Ingress To An Outside RF Connector.
  15. Sounds Like The Start Of A Great Game Plan. Good Luck On Your RF Adventures.......
  16. And It Is Not BS - It Is My Opinion On What I Would Do - Just As You Acknowledged. Further, I Never Said He Must Follow My Advice. You Sir, Need To Get Off Your High Horse & Stop Condemning Everyone's Opinion. Your Logic Is Your Opinion - And I Don't Necessarily Agree With Your Mindset On RF.......
  17. Utilizing A 50 Watt Repeater With 20 Watt Mobiles Will Enhance Your System. If It Were Me - That Is Exactly The Upgrade I Would Use For My System........
  18. DCS (Digital Coded Squelch) & DPL (Digital Private Line - Motorola Term) Are The Same. Most DPL Codes Also Have An (N) For Normal, Although Some Use (I) Meaning Inverted. DTCS (Digital Tone Coded Squelch) Is Also The Same, Just A Different Manufacturer's Term For A Digital Squelch Setting.
  19. Well I'm Confused With The Question & Answers. Why The Concern About A 5 Kilohertz (kHz) Offset On GMRS Channels / Frequencies ? Offsets For GMRS Repeater Pairs Are 5 Megahertz (MHz) Guessing The Question Had A Typo, Or Are You Attempting Something Else ?
  20. That Is Correct. The Forum Log In Is Independent Of The myGMRS Site Log In Which Enables The Advertising Blocking For Premium Members.
  21. Not That It Matters, But A Subscriber With A Premium Membership Must Log In To myGMRS For The Ad Blocker To Be Effective. I'm A Premium User & Will See Ads Unless I Log In.
  22. The Motorola R56 Manual Is The Standard Used By Most Public Safety Communication Sites For System Grounding. Tap / Click On Chapters 4 & 5 To View. https://northgeorgiacommunications.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Motorola-Standards-and-Guidelines-for-Communication-Sites-R56-Manual.pdf
  23. And At The End Of The Day - In My Opinion - (2) 50 Watt GMRS Mobiles With A Quality 5/8 Wave Antenna Will Work Just As Well, If Not Even Better.
  24. I Use A Cigarette Lighter Power Connection For My 45 Watt Vertex Standard VX-4600. It Has Performed Flawlessly For The Last 1 1/2 Years. Good Battery Connection Terminals & Battery Condition, Are More Important In My Opinion........
