  1. Thanks. I did read through the manual, but somehow missed that. I was able to program it to my liking using Chirp.
  2. Does the H3 have weather band programmed? Is there a shortcut? I can't seem to get mine into weather band. In a video review, I saw the host hold down the bottom soft key to get to weather band, but mine goes to FM commercial radio. Is this key programmable? I'd like have it go to weather since holding the "8" will get you to FM.
  3. Sorry for you to hear that. I use Android and very much like that feature when using my GMRS Pro. I can set it up on a high shelf and use my phone to talk. It is also handy when in the car with a mag-mount. I can leave the radio in the cup holder and use my phone mounted on the dash. Perhaps they will make an upgrade to the app?
  4. I am curious how far people have made contacts. I recently received transmissions from (what seemed to me) a very long distance away. I was on a high hill on the dunes of Lake Michigan near Muskegon, Michigan and was able to clearly listen to the Racine, Wisconsin repeater 85 miles away on the other side of the lake purely accidentally. Guys were mainly talking about fishing and the upcoming salmon and steelhead runs. I also heard traffic from Ohio and Indiana. I was on a hand-held GMRS Pro and also used a Baofeng UV-17 Pro GPS while employing a N9TAX Labs Slim-Jim GMRS antenna. Of course with only 5 Watts I wasn't able to make contacts, but it got me thinking. Just how far have people actually made contacts? I imagine mountain top to mountain top could be quite far.
  5. Thank you. That's the kind of feedback I'm looking for. I have watched Randy's videos on all of them and was leaning toward the KG1000G Plus, but I am not wanting to throw cash away either.
  6. Looking for some direction: Reading through the thread and I'm trying to decide on the BTECH GMRS 50V2 or the Wouxun KG100G Plus. Is the KG100G Plus worth nearly double the cost? I know it is a super-heterodyne radio, but is it worth it? I'm willing to wait and save a couple weeks if it really is worth it. I plan to put a radio in my truck for off roading and for general use. The closest repeater is about 40 miles away from home, but I was able to hit it with my BTech GMRS Pro handi-talkie with a Nagoya 771G under good conditions. I'll be closer to other repeaters when I travel and I'm hoping that I might do better with one of these radios and a Retevis MR300 mounted on my steel bumper. So, go with a more sensitive and feature-rich radio, or save some cash? What would you choose and why?
