  1. OffRoaderX I guess I will call them because I did reset and still no joy.
  2. I have Wouxun KG-S88G that is having a receive issue, so far only on channel 17. It had been working fine and barely gets used. But, it no longer receives on channel 17 if a CTCSS tone is programmed. All my radios are obviously programmed the same and on channel 17 I use CTCSS tone 225.7, the radio will TX fine to the others but would not receive. I even tried turning just the receive tone off still no joy. On the open channel programmed with no CTCSS tone it receives fine from the other radios. But, with the TX tone Programmed and No RX tone it still will not receive. Upon playing around with it I got it to receive with RX CTCSS tone 229.1 even tho the other radio is TXing with 225.7. I also have another channel programmed, same freq, channel 17 for camp with CTCSS tone 254.1 and the same problem but I could not get it to receive even changing the tone. So far this issue has only appeared on 462.625. Any ideas or solutions? EDIT: I have even tried restting ang then reprogramming the radio. At first it worked for 225.7 but only form1 time receiving then the same issue arose. For the camp channel it still did not work.
  3. @Sshannon That is a fair point.
  4. @WRYZ926, I had thought about setting up a simplex repeater. But I don't know if that would help or not. I am not sure the signal would hit the repeater since the mobile in my car could not be reached in my driveway from another radio approximately 8 miles away. I was figuring if they couldn't reach my vehicles mobile antenna they probably couldn't hit the repeater antenna in the same location.
  5. I am in the somerset area. Very hilly and wooded
  6. @WRYZ926 I am located in south central Kentucky with a lot of wooded area and hilly topography.
  7. OffRoaderX, Thank you for the response. Have heard decent things about the MXT500. I will have to look at the KG_1000G. I did see the video on the antenna test proving that a good antenna makes a big difference. I updated to the Browning from the Midland MXTA13 that came with my MXT115 (also good and informative video) and the Browning did give me about .5 miles more. I live in south central Kentucky (a very hilly area and well wooded.) and wondered now if more watts may help some more on distance. I am trying to avoid a taller antenna due to parking at work in a garage that a taller antenna would scape on top of my SUV. P.S. Love the channel brother.
  8. Looking to upgrade from my Radioddity DB-20G to radio with more watts. was wondering about opinions on this radio, or if anyone is running it. If anyone has a suggestion on a good mobile radio in the 40 to 50 watt range they would be appreciated. I will be running my Browning B-176s antenna with it.
  9. Sshannon, Thank you. I will try that.
  10. No issues talking simplex. Just don't get good range due to topography, maybe about 2 miles. Alot of hills, rock and forested area.
  11. WRHS218, I appreciate the ideas. It has me stumped.
  12. I did try removing the code on both radios on the receive side. No other repeater traffic, small area, so not sure how much there would be. But, I do hear the repeater's voice identifier and also get the "squawk code" on both radios from the repeater both when I transmit and on the receive side. I do get the same results on both radios. I have used both a Midland antenna and a Nagoya ut-72g with same results. Before the db-20g's, I had 2 Midland MXT 115's. Thought those may have been the problem and why I bought the DB-20g's. The repeater is about 1 mile from my house. This is why I am so stumped.
  13. Hello everyone, I am new here and new to GMRS. I got my license recently and have an open repeater near me. I purchased 2 radioddity db 20g radios and programmed the repeater channels with correct ctc code, problem is every time I attempt to talk on the repeater the only thing that is received by the other radio is some static and the repeater "code" after, no voice relay. I have the radios programmed with the correct frequency and ctc. Sorry, I am a noob so I don't know the technical terms well yet. The repeater does transmit a voice identifier sometimes and that does come through on the radio. P.S. I do know that if the radios are close together this can happen. In my case the radios have been as much as 2 miles apart. thank you for any help.
